I know it's a little early (I've really been trying to hold back ~ honest ) We leave in 2 1/2 weeks and here's our pretrip report. Please feel free to post any helpful suggestions. Thanks guys!
Oh and by the way this is a little long  LOL .

Background info:
We were not planning to go to disney this year (can you believe it?) One day back in May I was checking Expedia for a friend and right there on the front page was the special for the Fairytale package. Showed dh and convinced him it was shear lunacy to pass it up. So we booked our trip! Of course I had to jump on the web to get help with planning.

I originally booked 7 nights at the CSR (it looks beautiful there). My dh earned some extra money this summer so I started dreaming of ways to spend it   ~ namely by staying at a deluxe. Now I must interject here that while my dh is very loving and fun he is missing the disney gene and doesn’t get my love of the “Disney Experience”. To him it is a waste to spend money at a deluxe ~ for what?  I called DTC anyway to find out what was available. I wanted to stay at the Yacht or Beach Club ~ nothing. Boardwalk had water view only and I didn’t think dh would pay that much more. So I inquired about the Poly. It was available! Yay! That night I presented my dh with a pro/con list for changing our reservation. I nervously awaited his response. After a few minutes he said “I will do this on one condition - we go to Universal too.” Uh let me think a minute - YES! But can we stay there too? (I thought I would strike while the purse strings were open). After telling him I could get 50% off rack he agreed. OK so in the beginning of August our plan was 2 nights at the Hard Rock Hotel and 7 nights at the Poly ~ somebody pinch me! Then at the end of August dh finds out he needs to be at a meeting on 10/3. There went our 2 nights at the Hard Rock. Dh managed to reschedule some meeting/deadlines and so was able to add back one night to the front of our vacation. Unfortunately the HRH was no longer available for my discount so I booked one night at The Royal Pacific Resort (keeps us in a Polynesian Spirit :hula: ). We are hoping that with FOTL access we can get in everything in two full days (I think we can.) So to make a long story short we arrive at the Royal Pacific on 10/3 at 9:30 AM and will move over to the Poly on 10/4 late in the day. We are staying for 8 glorious days so we go home 10/11 (as late as possible.)

If you don’t mind I need to back up a little here. Back in May when I was doing my Disney :happydance:  I noticed ds8 was not saying much. He would not participate in conversations about disney I had with ds10 and seemed not very happy about our plans. After days of asking what is wrong he reveals he is frightened of flying and thinks something bad will happen when we are at WDW. Our last trip ended on 9/11/01 when he was six. I had no idea it affected him this much; really I didn’t think it affected him at all since he was so young. But between somehow finding out the terrorists had WDW on their list of possible sites, and of course the planes the terrorists used, and the fact that we were extremely worried on 9/11 because 2 uncles and their pop pop work at the NY stock exchange, it really scared him a lot (how do kids hold this stuff in?) After the tears cleared I called dh and asked if we should drive. I know it is more dangerous than flying but we felt this was a good solution for us. He agreed and ds8 was relieved about that and as the weeks have passed he is feeling more comfortable about being at WDW. I managed to conceal the BTMR accident from him by singing loudly and throwing myself in front of the TV the other day when Fox News was on. He just thought I was   ~ not a new concept to him.

My son's fears got me thinking of ways to make this trip extra special so I began to plan surprises. I won’t mention them here, they are listed below. So now that you know way more about me than you probably care to know; without further ado...

Cast of Characters:
Me - Lover of WDW would go there every year if it weren’t for...
dh - really great guy who just doesn’t get my love of disney but has fun while there.
ds10 - PSYCHED!!
ds8 - Cautiously willing to come with us. We are confident he will be fine as soon as we drive through those purple gates!
ds15mo - Happy boy willing to come along for anything.

Thursday, October 2
Surprise #1 - DSs think we leave 10/3 for WDW but surprise we leave a day early and are spending one night/two days at the Royal Pacific with FOTL access to Jimmy Neutron, Shrek, Spidey and all our other old friends.

Friday, October 3
9:30 AM Check-in at Royal Pacific Resort and get room keys for FOTL access.
10:00 AM IOA ~
2:00 PM Hopefully room is ready and we will experience surprise #2: free upgrade, gift basket and free use of gym thanks to Loews 1st Club. A swim break might be nice too.
5:00 PM Universal (open till 7:00)
8:00 PM Eat dinner at Jimmy Buffets place or the Hard Rock

Saturday, October 4
8:00 AM Drive down to Poly and check in early ~ Poly is booked solid!
9:00 AM Universal Studios - MIB marathon
1:00 PM Late checkout (another perk of Loews 1st)
1:30 PM Ride favorites at IOA again
3:30 PM Leave for WDW
4:00 PM Surprise #3 - Arrive at Poly. DSs think we are still at CSR. I hope they won’t be disappointed, they were looking forward to the pyramid pool. I think a volcano will suffice. While ds10 & ds8 swim with dad (or go to arcade if raining) I will be arranging surprise #4: A Pal Mickey with balloons and a note from Mickey saying “Hey Pal, I’m so glad you came back to have fun at the most magical place in the world! Here’s a friend to help you out when I’m not around. See you soon. Love Your Pal Mickey” or something like that. DS8 loves plushes and I hope this will help him get over any remaining bad feelings he has. (I might do this when I go earlier in the day.)
6:00 PM MK to try out Mickey
9:00 PM Watch FITS for the last time (for us)

Sunday, October 5
9:00 AM Epcot
Mission Space here we come! :space:
12:35 PM PS at Le Cellier
3:30 PM Rest in Room
Surprise # 5 - Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party! 7:00 p.m. - Midnight
I’m so proud I was able to keep this one to myself. DS10 will be Link from Zelda games, DS8 will be Aragon from LOTR, and DS15mo will be Pooh (I snagged a costume last year at Disney Store, Reg price $50 ~ I paid $5! ) I just have to sneak the costumes into the luggage.

Monday, October 6
8:30 AM Breakfast at Kona
swim
11:30 AM Dh & Boys go to DQ - DS10 was very disappointed we weren’t able to do this last time. Our plan was to go on the last day of our last trip. Of course we weren’t able to.

Long? I didn't think that was too long!
LOL

I think your planning really shows in this schedule - - you have a lot to do, but it doesn't seem like you're trying to pack in too much.

Thanks for sharing with us. You got me excited about your trip and I'm not even going with you!

:clapping: Ciavobella!  Your trip sounds similar to ours!  We are also staying at the Royal Pacific (first time) for 5 nights (got the buy 2 for 5 days tickets) and we are staying at club level with the Fan club card.  Originally I had us booked with the entertainment card, but thought the lounge would be a nice treat.  I hope its as good as I feel that the Poly will be.  Yes, we will be staying at the Poly concierge level, and I can't wait!  We'll be there later than you though, RPR/US/IOA visit will be Oct 18-23, move to the Poly 23-30, and than a 3 night Disney Wonder cruise!

We are also doing the Fairy tale package, were originally booked as a land/sea package staying at the CBR with 2 rooms, but when I rebooked as FTP, they didn't have it available for the entire stay, so we upgraded to the Poly!  I'm also planning on having a Pal Mickey waiting in the room, but I was going to have the concierge staff take care of it, they have been so sweet and helpful via email!!  I think I'll have ballons and a card waiting too!  Great idea, THANKS!  Since my MIL (husband's mom) is coming too, I thought I'd have a WDW scrapbook album for her, she's so excited about coming along with us, I wanted something special for her too.  I see that you and I both love doing surprises!  We are also doing the MNSSHP, and the kids and gma don't know about it!  Before the party starts, I have PS at Crystal Palace at 5:20p, that way we can just get our bands earlier and stay in the park waiting for the festivities!  We are also doing the Fantasmic dinner package, but we are doing the Hollywood and Vine buffett.  What is the trails end buffet and sing a long?  That sounds like fun.  We are doing the Hoop Dee Doo on one of the nights, I think the kids would love it.  I also want to do Boma, but I was thinking we'd have dinner there.  Maybe it would be better to do breakfast?  My daughter loves Donald Duck, I was also considering a breakfast at Breakfastaurus (sp?) I definately need to make a PS for a character breakfast.  Maybe right at our hotel at Ohana's?  That is so nice to have golf for your husband.  Did you have to make reservations for it?  Is it close to the Poly?  Thanks for making that much more excited about our trip!  Kelly  :happydance:

 Dear Ciavo and alaskangal:
Our dates almost match; we're in Poly conc from 9/1 to 9/9 then off to Royal Pacific & Universal from 9/9 to 9/11.  Our cast includes grandma (me) grandpa (spouse) DD and DSoninlaw, DGD, age 6, DGS, age 5 and DGS age 4! We too have planned everything down to last detail and include the mouse's halloween party, character breakfasts/dinner, Hoop de doo, pirate cruise, pontoon illumination cruise and a fancy dinner at Tchop/chop (kids to sitter).
At this point, I don't know who is the most excited; us old folks or the kids!!!
Have a wonderful trip and will look forward to comparing our respective trip reports.
Aloha, Carolyn

Thank you so much disneylover! We are almost all packed, we just need to run to Target for a FEW (yeah right) things. I had to spill the beans to my oldest son about MNSSHP. He told me he wasn't going to trick-or-treat this year (he's only 10  :unhappy: ). So we might also be going to a costume store today.

Thank you for the driving tips. I printed off a "construction along 95" sheet from a Route 95 web site and S. Carolina was the only state listed without construction. I guess it's not too reliable :glare:.

Only 30 hours to go  :hula: .

Karen:  My family also has an 8:05 PS @ Crystal Palace for Friday, October 10th!  We are leaving on the 8th and also staying at the Poly.  I can't believe it's already here!  My dh is not as excited as me but I know he'll love it once we get there.  This is our first trip to WDW! Our ds is 2 1/2 and he's excited too!  Have a great time!    :clapping:

Karen,

I may be your long lost west coast twin!  Your planning sounds exactly like me.  Geez, it was like reading something I would write...  I also have ds 10 and ds 8 and a third littler ds (he's 4 though)

I can not wait to hear your trip report.

BTW:  I don't think you are allowed to exit Target having only bought a "few" things...I think an alarm may go off if you try

:tounge:
