Hello all --

"DisneyWidower" is a playful reference to the fact that my Wife is a cast member -- and we both find that her job takes her away from home for many hours on both weekdays and weekends.

She has been a cast member for more than 8 years (Disney Stores) and LOVES working with the company.

Friends and family who have seen her endure the abuse of rude and nasty guests -- and noticed her long and seemingly exhausting hours of work -- often ask her why she doesn't get out of retail all together.

I feel that for her this career is a way for her to be a part of the Disney magic she felt on every childhood visit to WDW. The fun she had -- the magic she experienced -- is very important to her -- so much so that she tries to bring it to as many others as she can.

She also shares it with her family -- with her CM privileges we make an annual pilgrimage to WDW with our 2 kids. 2 kids who have all the cartoony stuff they could possibly dream of.

She is a bit of a fanatic about many things Disney -- in fact she married an animator (me -- a freelance animator on a few DTV projects). We also honeymooned in WDW. Our anniversary is coming up next month -- which brings me to my question.

Where do I go to find cast-member information such as hotel discount times and special events? I'm planning an Anniversary trip to WDW but I'm trying to do it without her knowing. This is very difficult with only a silver pass.

Does anyone know how I can do this covertly ? Or will I have to spill the beans too soon and get HER to make all the arrangements?

I really want to do this as magically as possible for her.

Thanks in advance,

DW

Hello from a former WDW cast member! I am so glad to hear that your wife loves her job as a cast member, I miss mine, but taking care of a two year old is all I can manage right now!
:)
Anyways, to help out with your question, I can give you the main number I call to WDW, and I am sure that they can give you some advice on what you want. It is (407)824-2222. I cannot imagine someone not being able to work something out.
Good luck and I hope you have a great trip! :mickey:

P.S. If you can get your e-mail "covertly" you could always save a dime and contact Disneyworld.com under guest services.

Bless her heart. It's sure wonderful to know that there are folks still out there like you and your wife who work so hard to bring Disney magic to others. I just had to compliment both of you, and I feel priviledged to meet you. Welcome to the echo! God bless you both. :mickey:

Yoo Hoo, DW!

Welcome to the Disney Echo, from a graphic artist (me) !

I've sent a Mouseke-Message to Rufus (co-modEARator of the Disney Echo's Cast Member Clubhouse) alerting him to your special request.

What kind of projects did you do for Disney TV?

Here's your own pair of Disney EchoEars, DW, as my welcoming gift to you:

thanks for the warm welcome --

By DTV I meant Direct to Video--

I was an assistant animator on both the "Belle's Enchanted Christmas" film and the "Tigger Movie"

My other feature film credits are with the "other guys" namely Warner Brothers and Fox

I do TV series work now -- as a character designer -- but have recently sold a TV series idea to a studio here (Canada)

Thanks for forwarding my request -- I look forward to hearing anything I can .

I would suggest you call the reservation line with Silver Pass in hand and just ask. (Yeah, I know, too bloody obvious and direct.) The number is 407-W-DISNEY (407-934-7639).

If that fails, you could always ask some Disney Echo participant who happens to work at WDW for a bit of help....
