Yoo Hoo, gang!

Be on the lookout for this conference call live on < > at the Investor Relations part of it (don't know precise name, but that's the gist of the name). Log in 5 minutes prior to the conference which starts at 3:30 pm Central, 4:30 pm Eastern, 1:30 pm Pacific Thursday July 31, 2003. If ya'll have that much bandwidth and interest it might be very interesting. CNBC will likely have previews of the report all day Thursday.

Estimates are for $.16/share earnings for the quarter. If Disney beats or exceeds it, that's good news. Disney has seen some perk ups in attendance at theme parks, sold the Angels, has had truly boffo box office this summer w/Lizzie McGuire, Finding Nemo, Pirates of the Caribbean and Spy Kids 3D. Disney is trying to fix ABC, but ESPN is their broadcasting/cable bright spot. ESPN is set this fall for something new, namely Rush Limbaugh as a commentator for ESPN on Sunday nights, wherever Rush goes on cable audiences do follow him and bumps up in ratings literally do occur. Downside to ESPN is that they are charging cable companies higher and higher carry rates which the cable companies are balking at.

Should be a very interesting conference call, so listen or look for news Thursday evening on CNBC or in Wall Street Journal Friday morning -- or monitor the conference call live in the afternoon if you can.

Yoo Hoo, Disney EchoEars!

I missed the conference call but you can < listen to the archived audio of it online >.

There was good news announced by Disney, from what I've read. The Walt Disney Co.'s quarterly profit rose 10 percent for its third quarter thanks to gains in its film business and television networks, surpassing Wall Street estimates. Theme parks are still weak, though.

Yoo Hoo, Disney EchoEars!

I'm listening to it now.

At one point, Michael Eisner goofs by saying "The Company's over-reaching strategy -- over-arching strategy, not over-reaching... The Company's over-arching strategy is to create great entertainment products, strong franchise potential and to extend that product completely across our broad array of programming, theme parks, and other consumer product outlets.

Talk about your Freudian slips!
