When I have a view like the castle from the Polynesian, I ALWAYS keep the drapes open to watch the view. (I change in the bathroom)

In All Stars I close the drapes for changing and sleeping, though, for privacy.

I love seeing WDW just outside my room so that I live the magic every second that I am there!

Yoo Hoo, Dorie!

I'm the same way. I especially love leaving the curtains open when at the Polynesian Resort (if I have a water view) and the Contemporary Resort.

Welcome to the Disney Echo, Dorie! I'm glad you joined the fun here. As my thanks for joining and posting your first message, here's a pair of Disney EchoEars for you:

I chose open but then I remembered two trips ago.  I had the door at the Disneyland hotel slightly open and the curtains open so I could keep an eye on the beautiful view.  The next morning I woke up to a room with three birds in it, and they didn't want to leave!

They were after my food, my company-they were so used to people one sat on my bed to stay warm.  I could not get them out, it took over half an hour.  The door stays closed now, but the curtains stay open.
