We just got back from 4 nights at two different WDW Resorts. The first two nights were at the Polynesian Resort where we were on the 3rd floor facing the water and the volcano - - we kept the curtains open (except when changing clothes). The next two nights we were on the 1st floor of Port Orleans French Quarter where folks walk right by your window on the exposed breezeways and balconies which the rooms open onto - - we kept the shutters and curtain tightly closed overnight there!

If we had a great view of MK, we may be tempted to open the curtains. In our previous visits to the Polynesian ('96, '98, '00, '01, '02) we did not have a clear view. I really never thought about it, but it sure seems that it would be a neat thing to do. We'll see what happens in 19 days or so when we "come home" again. (6/25-7/2).

Last year was the first time we went to WDW and stayed outside of Fort Wilderness...We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside.  We left the curtains closed.  We leave in just over 10 days for our next trip.  We will be staying Poly lagoon view consierge...we will be leaving the curtains open.  The whole point of staying lv is to look outside and see the castle and the MK any time we want.  ;)

I have to admit to mixed emotions here. While we usually do sleep with the curtains, closed, there have been times we've kept them opened for *fear* of missing something! On occassion when we're on a business trip to Orlando, we usually stay at the ASMusic, POFQ, or CBR, in which case we usually keep the curtains closed. When staying at the YC or Winlderness cabins, it's curtains opened! The only problem is that we don't get much sleep this way. The other *problem* is that we're not normally early morning people, and no matter what we do, curtains open or closed, we just can't seem to sleep much past 8 a.m.! At the YC it's definitely open as we usually get a lovely room overlooking the lagoon with a balcony and it's awesome, day or night. Ok, I know....I need a Disney fix! :flag:

When we stayed at the All-Star, P.O. River.,and Caribbean, we kept them closed, but could not resist having them open at least one night while we were @ the Boardwalk - the view was marvelous @ night!
As many times as I have visited the Polynesian, Contemporary, Grand Floridian, and Wilderness resorts, I cannot imagine someone not enjoying a nighttime view, especially if you had a L.V.! Talk about romantic! :hearts: :mickey:

While we do shut our curtains while we are sleeping, I leave them open during the day, including the sheers, so that people can "see" a room at the resort.  This is especially true in the evening, with the lights lit.  I know I love to see other resorts rooms, so I figure this is enjoyable for others!

My answer is based on our stay Dec 2001 at CBR.  We closed the curtains because the walkways are right outside the windows and we didn't want to give anyone a free show

Our trip this time is to the Poly, and depending on the view and floor that we have, we my leave them open more.

Since my eyes are shut when I'm sleeping I can't see out the window anyway.  I prefer the darkness, the quiet the curtain provides and the privacy to facilitate resting up for another day at Disney.

:sleepy:   I usually stay at All Star Movies, so I keep them closed.  But my dream is to stay in a tower room at the Contemporary and then I would keep them open to see the castle....
