I just have to let this out and I know that you guys would understand.

This past weekend we ventured out to our local theme park. It was such a disappointment  :uhoh: !!  The only "theme" I could see was that of pushy visitors and rude workers.  The park itself was very dirty. There were characters there but they were less than interested in really interacting with the kids.

I know that in my "pre-Disney" life I probably would have not noticed much of this, but all I could think of during this trip was how wonderful it would be to be at Disney World!!

There's just no place like home  :D !!

Oh yeah- we got to see the POC movie- FABULOUS!!!!  :depp:

I feel the same way when I've been to a non-Disney park.
:(

Our family has been to Jazzland in New Orleans (which is now Six Flags New Orleans) and my son & I have been to Six Flags in Houston as well. We didn't like both of these parks, even though they have characters (from Warner Brothers, like Bugs Bunny). Michael found the roller coaster way too scary. Carol and I didn't want to ride most of them either, because whirl and  twirl rides make us hurl.
:barf:

He's at the age where he's not quite ready for the more intense rides, and he realizes he's outgrown the kiddie rides at these parks. He still enjoys the classic rides at WDW like the teacups, Dumbo, etc. however.

The great Cast Members, the friendly interaction, the marvelous theming, and the cleanliness all contribute a great deal to why we always have a great time at Disney parks - - and why we're not satisfied at non-Disney parks.

Although we live close to a Paramount Park and usually even are season passholders, nothing really compares to Disney as far as the family atmosphere.  I have a 9 yo daughter and she is also getting too big for the kiddie rides, but most of the other rides at the park would even scare me to death!  A lot of thrill rides.  What I love about Disney's attractions are that you can enjoy them as a family.  I don't have to try to to load and unload the kids, making sure they get on and off the ride safely.  And they don't have to wait for the adults to ride.  I know there are a few exceptions (height restrictions for safety, etc.) but I still feel Disney has the family theme park down pat.

I know the feeling. And I don't like thrill rides either, they scare me.

And if I'm at any other park with characters, they're just people in costumes to me. At Disney parks the characters are all real to me and in my heart.

I use to think that thrill rides were the thing, but I just can't do them now-I tried this past weekend and felt soooo old :sniffle: !  Another reason I'll just stick to Disney!

The ride for the Family's is what keeps me going back to Disney World, But how long will it before the Thrill ride takes over WDW? I hate to see Spaceship Earth changing to a thrill ride. :uhoh:   :blush2: Epcot is my least favorite park. I don't go to non Disney parks anymore because I don't do thrill rides. The last one I went to was Six Flags New Jeresy.

Now, now, we don't know for sure that if it is changed to Time Racers (or whatever it will be called) that it will be a thrill ride. Sounds to me like an updated take on what Spaceship Earth has always been: a look back to important events in time which helps us realize where we are and where we are going in the future. And that's a noble theme for any attraction to be found at that location of Future World, whether we ride it now or in the decades to come.

My first trip to disney was in jan 93.  The last time I visited another theme park was the summer of 92.  I just dont see the point in going the Kings Dominion or any of the other smaller parks, they just dont compare.  The other thing Disney spoils me and my family with are the fireworks.  I dont know what the fourth of july fireworks are for everyone else, but after seing Disneys fireworks it just cant compare.  Disney does the best fireworks.  :wink2:
