Good Question, Rich, have they made special accomedations with Anaheim fire rescue or something! Maybe with the addition of the California Adventure resorts they will get some new ones - the problem is they are VERY expensive, even by Disney standards. I wish they would come up with a new line at WDW though, maybe something to link the MK resorts with the Animal Kingdom. My idea of a vacation a Disney does not include buses!
I am leaving Sat. for my trip, and will be eating at a monorail resort resteraunt for a dinner. The wife doesn't care for the menu at Narcoosees so we will probably eat at the Polynesian. If there is anything at any of the three resorts any of you would like me to check out, let me know.
Here's another funny story of sorts: Two newlyweds got on Small World wearing their groom and bride "ears". Upon spotting them coming down in the loading area the entire cast started applauding them and cheering them, right until they passed the fountain. It was quite a sight.
I know.
I was the groom.
Like I said, be careful what you wish for on a Disney Honeymoon! :lookaround:

I've never seen it happen personally, so I don't know. I have received info about Guests being taken down on ladders (cherry bucket?) from more than one of my friends who have seen it for themselves at Disneyland -- but I didn't think to ask what happens with kids and handicapped Guests.

They do have a pusher monorail tractor at DL which they use whenever they need to -- but if something has gotten the monorail stuck (broken wheel assembly, flat tire, whatever) then they have to take the Guests down right there from the faulty monorail.

They have an open platform that they use to ride down the track for inspections that is kept in the roundhouse. Bruce may have seen it. I just thought about it, and I am not sure if worst came to worst if they could use it as a pusher. Things may be different with these being newer monorails.

Speaking of pushers, one more tale for ya'll. I can't believe this thread is up to four pages already  - told ya' I had lots I had been waiting to share.

Some of you may have actually seen this happen. Before Spectromagic happens, parade ops is responsible for putting big rubber stoppers in the trolley tracks for the floats. Yes, they are VERY HEAVY, and no, I cannot tell you their nickname. But one night all the best planning ....
At the start of the parade there are little "men" riding balls that move around the street, as you may recall. One night one of the drivers of the balls found the one space between those stoppers and wedged that ball stuck but good. All the kings horses and all the kings men, couldn't get that ball to move again. After about five minutes of parade ops, entertainment, and street managers pushing it, it finally wedged loose. Meanwhile the poor little guy on top is waving and a'swingin away!
Only at Walt Disney World!

All ya'll fixin to go on vacations look out for something
:shifty:\ and I am sure I will have something to take back this weekend from Typhoon Lagoon. C'mon, it's a water park!

And do they still call the parade ops pre show meeting area the "Bomb Shelter"?

Yup, sure do! After 9/11, management tried to get us to call it the "Whine Cellar" instead, so overheard remarks wouldn't spook the guests, but it didn't take. The latest phone lists -- from those same managers -- still use "Bomb Shelter."

Some things just can't be changed by decree....

Welcome back, Rufus!

Now what I wanna know is if those fabled Disney Jails exist... you know, the ones supposedly at WDW that have bars but also Disney Characters painted on the wall?

Does Main Street Ops even still exist since the downturn in tourism - parade ops I mean.

Sure does -- can't run a parade without PAC cast. As before, it's still made up of the usual mix of Park Greeters, low seniority Railroad Conductors, and Main Street Vehicle drivers.

Main Street Operations also includes the Railroad, Turnstiles, and Vehicles (not horse cars). Station Break and Guest Relations have both been split off in recent years.

At least we have a great Area Manager now. When the previous manager left, we held a going away party -- and didn't invite her!

It's nice to know the "parade police" still exist. Somebody's got to keep the parents from putting their kids on the walls over the moat to see the parade! And lets not leave out the trash cans either!
And let me guess, they still try to jump to a different seat on the train at the last minute, right?
I have to say a nice story though. Had a wonderful little boy come up to me once and said that he would like to try on my hat - had to be about 4 or 5 - folks said it would be ok, so I did. He turned around and pointed at them and said something on the order of "Now stay on the curb". I thought I was gonna roll, and so did everyone around him. Those are the precious moments. ;)
I saved a really good one for Bruce for when he got back, I wanted him to hear it too. It's my favorite, and it is the topper. It's been awhile ago, but does anybody remember a certain night in summer 1989? Think hard.....think Main st. chaos......think nightime.....

It sounds like Bruce really has been in the MK alot! Can't wait to talk to him. I still new to these parts, does he work there?

I think "work" is a pretty strong word for what I do at the MK. Mark Twain described it best when he defined success as, "Making your vocation the same as your vacation."

I've been a Conductor on the WDW Railroad for the past five years, and a Main Street Show Quality Monitor for the past year. Before that I was just one of those AP holders who visited so frequently that even Cast Members asked me questions.

Welcome to the Disney Echo, Eric. Feel free to chat me up all you like!
