Hi, folks! In addition to writing posts on Disney TV, I'm also the publicity director for the Los Angeles Chapter of the NFFC, AKA The Studio Chapter. I'd like to take a moment to pass on information about our next meeting; if I've got this in the wrong place or you'd like to know more about the Chapter or the NFFC, please let me know. Thanks!
"Please join The Studio Chapter on Sunday, August 24th, as we present a program on the films of Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki.
Hayao Miyazaki may not be a household name in the United States, but he is one of the most celebrated directors in the history of Japanese film; his films, such as "Princess Mononoke", "Kiki's Delivery Service", "Castle in the Sky", and "My Neighbor Totoro", have been among the highest grossing movies ever released in Japan. His most recent work, "Spirited Away", was a resounding success with American audiences as well, earning him critical acclaim and an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. To celebrate Disney's release of "Spirited Away" and two of his earlier movies on home video, The Studio Chapter will present a program on Mr. Miyazaki's films. The presentation wiill include a discussion with Fred Pattern, a noted expert on animation as well as co-founder of Streamlines Pictures and the Cartoon Fantasy Organization, and a special video presentation. In addition to our program, we’ll have our “Member Show and Tell” presentation, where Chapter members will show us favorite items from their Disney collections; there will also be a raffle for Disney prizes and refreshments will be available. If you were amazed by "Spirited Away" but aren't familiar with some of the other work of its brilliant director, here's a great chance for you to find out what you've been missing. Be sure to join us for a fun and interesting afternoon!
The Studio Chapter meets at 1:00 p.m. in the Mary Pickford Education Center at the Autry Museum of Western Heritage. The Autry Museum is located in Griffith Park (directly across from the L.A. Zoo) at 4700 Zoo Drive (Western Heritage Drive), near the intersection of the Golden State (5) and Ventura (134) Freeways. There is plenty of free parking. Non-members are welcome to attend. For more information or directions, please visit our website, http://www.geocities.com/studiochapter , or e-mail Paul Schnebelen at firstname.lastname@example.org ."
