My sister and her family went a few years ago (kids were about 5 and 7) and they didn't love it at all.  In fact, of their 5 day hopper, they only used 3 days...(I have her searching for the remaining ticket but to date she can't find it, she figured she was never going back so didn't worry about remembering where she put it).   Don't know the reason why they didn't like it...I hate to say that it may have to do with her kids being a bit spoiled and perhaps they didn't like the idea of having to wait in line.  At one point I'm told that my nephew stood in the middle of the Magic Kingdom and whined "It's not fair, I never get to do anything fun!"....Boggles my mind, but there you have it!  They were staying in a very nice resort with all the amenities, so it couldn't have been that.   Oh well, it'll be the first time I'll be going with my husband and kids (I went years ago during school with a girlfriend and we had a blast! )  Hope my family loves it too!

Even though we go all the time, I must admit my husband is not a Disney lover.  He basically goes just to appease me.  I think it has something to do with the fact that he worked for Busch Gardens here in Tampa for 3 years after high school.  It seems to have taken the excitement and magic out of all theme parks for him.  He enjoys doing the out of ordinary things like Wide World of Sports, ESPN Club and DisneyQuest, but could take or leave the parks.

As for me, I feel like I eat, sleep, and breathe Disney.  In fact, this week I had to tell my husband that Disney is to me what sports is to him.  I think he can now relate to my obsession with WDW.  I have always been crazy over theme parks, but oddly enough, it wasn't until I was an adult that I really found my inner Disney.  Luckily, our son is taking after me and never gets tired of going either.

I think it all comes down to a couple of things, which make up part of a persons trait characteristics.  For instance, what kind of a child were they?  Did they have any IMAGINATION?  I remember as a child, not being able to go to Disney because we didn't have the money.  Mom raised three children alone, since Dad died at a young age.  I would see and hear about other kids I knew coming back from Disney, and just wishing some day that I could go.  I had a coloring book about a young boy and his adventures at WDW.  I would spend hours coloring and daydreaming about that magical place.  And mind you at the time, only  the Magic Kingdom existed! Then one day in tenth grade, Mom said," Who wants to go to WDW? for vacation, and I about died from excitement :wwww:   It was everything I imagined and more!  I never had a chance to go back until I was an adult with 3 of my own children.  We've been twice, have a trip planned for next thanksgiving, and I plan to make many more trips there. I'll never tire of it! :laughbig: The other consideration is: Are you the type of person who needs to be constantly entertained? Sitting back, and saying ,"Impress me, show me what you got.", or are you the type who can entertain yourself, and find enjoyment from the little things in life?  This may be an over-simlified view of things, but thats how I see it.

Excellently worded DScott!
Some people have imagination, others are realists. That's what probably most separates the "Disneyland is real" folks from the "oh it's just a theme park" thing I think.
