You Say Potato, I Say "Cheese" Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head, two toy icons that are part of pop culture, serve as a smiling photo backdrop for many "real" smiles at Disney's Pop Century Resort. The famous toys are just two of the larger-than-life icons at Disney's newest value-category resort. Rooms at Disney's Pop Century Resort begin at $77 based on season. The new hotel showcases pop culture of the 20th century. Walking The (Big) Dog Colorful Duncan Yo-Yos, popular toys of the 1960s, loom large at Disney's Pop Century Resort Jukebox Sock-Hop A giant tabletop jukebox anchors a 1950s lodge building as giant sock-hoppers be-bop on the hotel's exterior at Disney's Pop Century Resort. WDW's newest value-category hotel pays tribute to the popular toys, dances, catch phrases and fads through the decades with lodge buildings anchored by four-story icons including a laptop computer from the 1990s, a Sony Walkman from the 1980s, a Mickey Mouse telephone from the 1970s and Duncan Yo-Yos from the 1960s. Reservations are now being accepted for the 2,880-room hotel, which opens Dec. 14, 2003. When complete, Disney's Pop Century Resort also will feature a series of lodge buildings paying tribute to the 1900s through the 1940s, bringing the hotel's guest room total to 5,760. Jukebox Rock No, that giant jukebox isn't reflected on a shiny blue Formica tabletop from the 50s, it stands tall in front of one of the many pools at Disney's Pop Century Resort. Play-Doh Pachyderm Play-Doh Pete, the artful child made famous on classic Play-Doh containers, joins a bright blue elephant and other larger-than-life Play-Doh creations at Disney's Pop Century Resort. The four-story Play-Doh container anchors the 1960s section of the hotel, while peace signs, Duncan Yo-Yos, retro-flowers and tie-dyed colors adorn the exterior of the 1960s lodge buildings. They include a tie-dyed cheesecake(above)... OH IT TAKES FLUFF, FLUFF, FLUFF... TO MAKE A FLUFFERNUTTER! ...a Fluffernutter sandwich on tie-dyed bread ... The 2,880-room hotel, slated to open Dec. 14, 2003, features larger-than-life pop icons from throughout the 20th century. Vermeulen toured Clark through the resort grounds on a golf cart built to resemble a '57 Chevy (pictured in background). Here, the two stop to take a look at the "1950s" area, featuring a bowling pin-shaped pool and a four-story jukebox. I can hardly wait to see it when I can, here's hoping for late next year or so? I wouldn't be able to get out there fast enough to suit me I want my tyedye cheesecake and I want it now! corrinna Disney EchoEar Group: Members Posts: 3 Joined: Oct. 2003 Posted: Oct. 31, 2003 10:12 am/pm This is sooooo very awesome!!!!!  I just called for rates during Spring Break 2004, and they have no more rooms with the AAA discount. I went ahead and booked at All Star Sports and my travel agent is going to keep checking back for me to try to get the AAA rate later. Does anyone know if they have been known to open up more rooms at a resort for AAA rates as it gets closer to the date? I sure hope so. -------------- Lydia / corrinna Back to top

There doesn't seem to be many trees or shade of any sort. I guess this wouldn't be so bad in Jan. or Feb. when I'm thinking of going, but how about the warmer months.
