UPDATE: I've posted details about the 2-disc DVD of "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" and you can see the details by clicking here.

"The Pirates of the Caribbean" movie

Pirates ships are seen on the set of the Walt Disney movie 'The Pirates of the Caribbean,' in Wallabou Bay, in the western Caribbean island of St. Vincent, Monday, Feb.3, 2003. The movie is being produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, who has produced 'Top Gun,' 'Pearl Harbor,' and 'Blackhawk Down,' and directed by Gore Verbinski. It follows a daring rescue mission from dangerous pirates who are trying to reverse an ancient curse.

:pirate: This is another movie that I was curious about. Is it true that Johnny Depp is starring? Does anyone know who any of the other actors are?
Did you'll know that years ago there was a fire in the ride at Disneyland and when they were rehabbing the ride they left a lamppost that had melted during the fire.

It's true! He's Captain John Sparrow. :pirate:

See all the crew names and complete details here on the official movie website.

Also look at an unofficial website.

I don't think that is true, but here's something similar from the unofficial website above:

A fire broke out on the Walt Disney Co.'s studio lot on September 10, 2002, causing $350,000 in damage to a sound stage where a set was under construction for Pirates of the Caribbean. While no one was injured, Disney spokeswoman Michelle Bergman commented thatshooting for Pirates might not be able to proceed on schedule, or have to be moved elsewhere. But she added that Disney does not anticipate the accident will affect the movie's release date, scheduled for summer 2003.

Ryan Hedge was invited to the Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl movie premiere at Disneyland and he not only went, but he brought his camera.
:)

You can see pictures Ryan took at the premiere and read his review of the movie at Electronic Mayhem.

Yoo Hoo, Disney EchoEars!

Let's post our own opinions and reviews of the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie to share with our fellow Disney EchoEars!

I'll start things off - - but here's my tip about posting: If you keep things vague enough that you're not including spoilers, let people know at the top of your reply that it is safe to read your review before seeing the movie - - but if you include spoilers, then warn folks about that.

Okay, here I go! It is safe for everyone to read this review, whether they've seen the movie or not.
:pirate:

I saw the first screening at a local theater this afternoon - - it was sold out! I was inside the theater 10 minutes before the scheduled start of the movie and took the best seat I could find at the time: middle of the theater (great!;) but fourth row (thought not so great at the time I sat down).

Well, the seat felt great, reclined, and even though I was so close I didn't get a crook in my neck or anything. Actually, it was like watching an IMAX version of it, but without the extra viewing area at the top and bottom.
:lookaround:

I LOVE THIS PIRATES MOVIE!!! Sorry for shouting, but it is hard to express in text alone how great a time I had watching it. Every single minute of the movie I had a huge smile on my face. It was sooooo much fun! I saw the Hidden Mickey, and I think I caught all the references to the PotC attraction mentioned on the internet before the movie officially opened. I didn't try and read reviews of it before seeing it, though, because I wanted to be continually surprised in the movie. Not only was I surprised, and engrossed in the Pirate world, but I was continually delighted. I will not give anything away about the plot, though, because just like I didn't want anything spoiled by reading reviews of it, I don't want to spoil it for any of you. But I WILL stress that you go see the movie and I don't think you'll be disappointed (and I hope you'll be as delighted as I am with it).

Although, I'll condense the plot into one sentence, which won't give anything away: Sometimes with really bad eggs you can parlay it into a great omelette. Okay, so my cooking analogy isn't the best...
:D

That being said, I will not be bringing my 7 1/2 year old son to see it. He still closes his eyes during the FL version of PotC, so I know this version would be too thrilling for him. I'll make sure we get the DVD when it comes out so it will be waiting for him when he's reading to see it when he's older. :)

Also, when the movie's closing credits appear, DO NOT LEAVE! Even though they go on and on (and it seems like they last for over 5 minutes, easy) wait for a special little treat when the last of the credits have rolled. In the theater I went to, the cleaning crew started coming in about 2 minutes into the credits, even wanting to get past me as I sat in my row (to which I politely let them know that the movie hadn't ended yet...). When the special treat at the end came up, they stopped cleaning (since this was the first show, they might not have seen any special showing of it ahead of time) and things quieted down as they watched, too. When it the ending bit was finished, I announced, "NOW it's over!", stood up and left the theater happily.

Went and saw POTC today---it was FAB!!! And we also saw the trailer of Haunted Mansion as well, which was just as good.........

.............but where was the hidden Mickey?  (I think) we caught all of the other in-jokes, but we missed the hidden Mickey and the very end of the film after the credits.  Can someone e-mail me with a spoiler?

:pirate: HARRRRR!!! :pirate:

I was suspicious of this movie. I admit it! But it was really a great movie! I loved it! And Depp stole the show as Captain Jack Sparrow! He was hilarious! And the whole audience roared over the inside jokes taken from the ride! You could easily tell who had been on the ride and who hadn't! LOL

I just hope Haunted Mansion is as good! I haven't seen the trailer for it yet. But I'm sort of worried because it stars Eddie Murphy and Murphy has been in too many movies I haven't liked lately. We'll have to wait and see I guess.

This review is safe for all. I just got back from seeing Pirates of the Caribbean. This movie was absouluetly wonderful. Jonny Depp was brilliant.

I think I spotted the hidden Mickey, I'm not sure though.

You were right about waiting for the credits to end. As I looked around the theatre after the movie had ended, I saw about five other groups of people waiting too. After the movie was completely over, credits and all, every one was talking about the surprise at the end.

Well, just wanted to let everyone know that this was a great movie and they should go see it.
