Carrying over a sub-thread from the Animation part of this forum:  Disney and Pixar have been putting little extra goodie scenes at the very end of the credits of their recent films.  "Pirates of the Caribbean", "Finding Nemo", "Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over" and "Brother Bear" all have something going on either during or at the tail end of the closing credits.  Think of it like an after dinner mint or that little last taste of the movie the filmmakers want to give you to remember the movie positively by.  Seems to be a definite trend in very recent Disney and Pixar movies to do this.  I'm kind of expecting some sort of closing credit embellishment or truly final scene of the movie after the end of "Haunted Mansion"'s credits, just from the simple assumption the movies listed above did that, so why not "Haunted Mansion" as well?  Plan ahead.

The Haunted Mansion movie official promotional WWW site is now more fully featured.  You can tour Gracey Mansion.  The URL is:

http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/hauntedmansion/main.html

How it works:  On the homepage click the Haunted Mansion movie logo at the top of the frame.  That starts your tour.  You simply move or move and click your mouse to proceed on with the tour, it will be somewhat intuitive to know what to do where and when as you go forward.  It does tend to go on and on, but eventually your tour will end.

"How is it?":  Very cool.  See "Note:" below, however.

Note:  If you have certain religious or other beliefs concerning the occult, please be aware there is a Ouija board and a mock seance as part of this web site tour.  Certain images may be intense for small children (of ghosts, hauntings, "dead skeletons").  You know your family best, for those who may be young and impressionable you might want to tour the site when they are away or preview it first to make your own determination whether others in your family should see it or not.  The tour takes several minutes to complete, allow plenty of time for your tour.  If you have certain religious and other beliefs about the occult, you might wish to seek out guidance from your religious faith's organizations which review movies or from parenting sites that share your values to determine in advance if this movie would be suitable for your entire family to see, movie reviews, commentary, advisories about your faith's practices concerning the occult, etc.  You know yourself and your family and your values better than I do, simply a "heads up" for anyone who might be concerned and want to make their own judgement calls.  Generally the site's tone is taking all this haunted mansion, etc., stuff in light-heartedness but going for the special effects very much and pursuing those elements of the Disney theme park attraction to fuller effect and detail.

Some downloads and other features of the site are still not fully operational, will perhaps become more operational as the movie's premiere date draws closer.

If you see "Brother Bear" be looking in your theatre's lobby for a four-panel stand-up cardboard promo for Haunted Mansion.  Look on the bottom edges of each panel for trivia questions that can be answered by searching each panel very very carefully, you can find all the clues if you and your family look all over each panel very hard, maybe even on hands and knees.  There are Hidden Mickeys all over these panels!  And even if you didn't want to look for all that, the panels are still very cool and funny.  Haunted Mansion's newest trailer shows with "Brother Bear", if you've seen the teasers and trailers at HM's WWW site you've seen the one showing with BB already.

Good news is that the Haunted Mansion official movie WWW site is a bit more fully featured.  The E-card feature works now, so you can send one of four movie-related images to yourself or a friend, and the recipient actually gets E-mail notification he/she can click on.  Bad news is that the E-mail notification link sends you to the movie's homepage, not to retrieve the E-card itself (no place on the homepage says "click here to retrieve your E-card" sort of message).

A contest is starting on the Haunted Mansion's official movie WWW site on November 12th Wednesday.  There is a link to the contest on the homepage at the bottom.  When you click and go there all it's saying now is:  "Congratulations!  You have found Disney's THE HAUNTED MANSION "Haunted Lobby Contest" website!  Please come back between November 12 - 16 to vote for your favorite Haunted Lobby!"  Rich speculates it might mean nominating your favorite movie lobby if it's decorated to promote the Haunted Mansion movie, but that is his guess.  We will all have to revisit the Haunted Mansion movie site on Wednesday November 12th to see what's up.

Official movie site is getting new features.  Sending E-cards, however, only directs the recipient to the homepage of the movie's site.  However, when you take the Haunted Mansion "tour" on the site, in the graveyard, the E-cards show there where they didn't before.  And at the end when you click on the realty flyer you're directed to a "Making of" feature about Madame Leota's head.

We're dying for your company...

Come see the art of late masters at our Gracey Manor gallery opening. At first glance these paintings may seem normal, but dare to look closer and you will uncover their spine-chilling detail. It always ads a little touch of class to have a large portrait or two.

Just beware when they begin to look at you. Nothing in this mansion is as it seems, so look at your own risk!

Take the ghostly tour!

New features on the official Haunted Mansion movie site:  A token collecting interactive online game and the Haunted Mansion lobby contest has started.  Real movie theatre lobbies in the US and Canada are competing against each other for best decorated lobby, to be voted on by registered users of the Haunted Mansion official movie site.  Most incorporate official movie advertising elements but as a starting point and then go 'way beyond, rather entertaining to see.  Last, the mall tour promotion of the 3-D stuff will not be going to Houston TX after all.  It had listed Houston as TBD (to be determined) as to location, now that's no longer listed and the last stop is Orlando FL in mid-December.  E-cards still refer you to the movie's homepage.

Another new feature:  A music video is posted for viewing with the usual pop musician/singer combined with images from the movie being promoted.  I am not familiar with hip hop music so please pardon me:  The video is by "Iz U" Nelly.  It's very hip hop and rap and is somewhat "suggestive", parents may want to prescreen this for suitability of viewing for all the members of your family, the video is definitely at least a PG rating.  Scroll through the menu bar at the top of the screen to find "Clips", "Clips" is where the music video is.

The website said the Haunted Mansion Lobby Tour was not available when I tried it this morning.

I did see the music video. I couldn't wait for it to be over. Obviously I'm not the target audience for it.

Haunted Mansion movie theatre lobby contest is over, that is why you cannot view the lobbies anymore.  Disney is tallying the online votes cast and will issue a result Nov. 25 on it's official movie site.

To see a "Making of..." type-show about Haunted Mansion, there is such a show on E! Entertainment TV on cable/satellite.

Look for an edition of E! Behind the Scenes on The Haunted Mansion Nov. 28, 7:30am & 4:30pm; Nov. 29, 3:30am; Nov. 30, 3am & 7:30am; Dec. 1, 3:30am. All times Pacific, see listings for local times in your time zone.  ADD to these times 3 hours for Eastern, 2 hours for Central, 1 hour for Mountain time zones.
