PG-13

And THAT started a huge controversy on another board about Disney excluding children.  Course, you could sneeze on the other board and that would cause controversy, but that's another story
LOL

Sounds like said other board has a serious maturity problem   :eyebrow:  :wwww:

I'm interested in seeing Haunted Mansion. The only thing is that I've never really liked Eddie Murphy. The only thing I've seen him do in a movie I liked was Mulan. So a part of me is thinking "uh oh" and the other is thinking "but I still wanna see it!" I'd have to see it to judge, but I'd have more confidence of someone else other than Murphy was in the role since he seems to have a thing for picking out movies that are all gimmick and no pizazz :blush2:

Another site to see the trailer and the teaser, both are not the same:

http://www.comingsoon.net/movies/h/hauntedmansion.php

Re: Children seeing Disney PG-13 movies...IMHO/YMMV:  Know your child, research thoroughly not just the movie reviews but any parental WWW sites that advise about mass media and children to determine if your child can go ahead and see any given film or if it's a better idea the child stay home.  Rich and I "tag team" babysitting and seeing any PG movies one at a time, the first parent comes home to advise the other if a PG movie is OK or not for our son to see, and then we either all 3 go or the other parent goes and the first parent stays home to babysit.  You know your own child best and your first "gut" instinct (child sees movie or stays home) will likely be the most accurate way to go.

I'm looking forward to this movie, too, but that it's not from the same team that did "Pirates of the Caribbean" has set up some doubts in my mind.  Then again I doubted that "Pirates" would be any good and look how more than pleasantly surprised audiences were about that.  The shorter of the two promo clips of the above site is what's been running in movie theatres so far, the longer clip on this site has different shots and more characters and special effects in it.  Should be interesting, especially to compare HM and POTC movies.

Wow, that's a good point! I didn't realise until now that a different team was making this movie. You're right, comparisons to POTC will be inevitable. I do want to see the movie, I just hope they do it alright...

I'm in the same boat, I was highly suspicious of POTC until I saw it. So you never know until you see it. Here's to hoping :mickey:

Couple of things:  Our newspaper's weekly Friday entertainment section now has photos w/captions pointing to the premieres of movie trailers, not the movie itself but the promo clips for it.  Well, the deluxe trailers for Thanksgiving through New Year's blockbuster movies are now coming out and I guess the one for "Haunted Mansion" joins in.  Imagine buying a movie ticket so you can watch the trailers before a movie, then leaving!

Next:  If you think the clip for "Haunted Mansion" is interesting, look in this Live Action Disney Movies section on this board for "The Alamo" movie thread, go to the last message and click on the links for an updated trailer for that movie.  Truly awesome!

Next:  Article in last Sunday's New York Times describes the new trend in entertainment called "moviemercials".  Points to the trend such as the various Barbie direct-to-video movies such as the newest one called "Swan Lake" and, get this, the Disney trend of porting over their theme park attractions into movies based on those attractions.  So "Twilight Zone Tower of Terror", "Country Bears", "Pirates of the Caribbean" and now "Haunted Mansion" are "moviemercials" of synergy tying the theme parks to larger mass audiences.  Don't that beat all?

Last:  Notice the tie-in to Walt Disney's "wink" (his cue to his audiences that the attraction is just for fun and laughs and he's not endorsing or believing in piracy or ghosts or seances, etc.) in "Pirates" and now apparently "Haunted Mansion".  Both are not fully comedies but definitely have a lot of comedy in them.  These are cuing the audiences to the similarity of fun common in the rides as well as the movies based on the rides.
