According to discussion forums on Box Office Mojo the wide release date for "The Alamo" is set for April 9, 2004. The movie's world premiere is set for March 27.

Here's a link to an article about Billy Bob Thornton, who plays David Crockett in "The Alamo", and Thornton's response on why the premiere of the movie was delayed from Christmas 2003 to April 2004.

For those of you in Texas or with access to a newsstand with out-of-state magazines, look up the December 2003 issue of Texas Monthly, published by Emmis Communications.  On the cover are two of the stars of "The Alamo" and articles discussing the movie.  It's too bad the premiere got delayed.  Folks on The Alamo movie fan site are raving about the articles and how good they are.  The magazine is shipping to subscribers now and should be on newsstands in a few days.

According to the Alamo movie fan site, another site called FilmJerk.com has an article about how the various Hollywood movie studios are buying ad time in the 2004 Super Bowl to promote 2004 movies.  FilmJerk.com's article speculates that for Disney supposedly buying two 30-second commercial slots in the 2004 Super Bowl, that one of those commercials will go to promote "The Alamo" movie premiering in April 2004.  Article is dated late-November 2003 at FilmJerk.com if you want to read more, or follow links found in archives of The Alamo movie fan site on the WWW.
