Walt Disney World executives take on new roles
The recent shuffle of several senior executives at Disney
Walt Disney World is shuffling assignments for a number of senior executives in Orlando, including a change in a high-profile community post.
Jim Lewis, a senior vice president who headed Disney's government relations and public affairs section, becomes senior vice president and general manager of Disney Vacation Club.
Randy Garfield, Disney's executive vice president of sales and travel, is responsible for the worldwide sales of Disneyland, Walt Disney World and the Disney Cruise Line -- a role that spans everything from the reservations centers to development of theme-park vacation packages. He also is president of Walt Disney Travel Co., one of the largest vacation package wholesalers.
Jerry Montgomery becomes senior vice president in charge of public affairs, government relations, transportation strategy, minority business development, diversity and community relations, and now reports to Weiss.
Lewis assumes the time-share duties previously held by George Aguel, senior vice president of Resort/Park Sales and Services. "George will continue to lead the group and convention business including the Disney Institute and Disney Event Group," Disney spokeswoman Jacquee Polak said. "His role has expanded in other areas," she said, including "alliance development," or the forging of partnerships with corporations for joint marketing and other business relations.
Polak said that for the immediate future, the Disney executives will continue in their various community positions. Lewis, for example, serves on the board of governors for the Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce and represents Disney on the boards of Enterprise Florida, the Metropolitan Orlando Urban League and Coalition for the Homeless.
Montgomery, who is on Disney's diversity leadership board, also serves on the board of ABLE Trust, a state organization that provides support for employment of Florida residents with disabilities.
