Hello all --

Well I managed to do it. I managed to secretly book a trip to WDW for my 8th wedding anniversary -- and even got a room in the Contemporary Tower (the site of our first honeymoon).

When I spoke with the CastMember at reservations she was incredibly helpful and seemed almost as excited as I was to get everything arranged. She also suggested a few ideas for dinner. My favourite was a character dinner that included what she said was an informal vow-renewal ceremony (maybe ceremony's not the word -- more like a "moment").

Unfortunately, I didn't write down which restaurant she was refering to and have forgotten already.

The next CastMember I spoke with wasn't quite sure either.

So, if anyone knows where this might be, please let me know. Or, if anyone has any other suggestions as to what I could do to have an extra-special anniversary please speak up.

I'd like to keep it simple -- and plan on taking in the fireworks from on top of the Contemporary -- but if anyone has a better idea please share it.

Thanks to Rich and Rufus for their help on my first post in the welcome forum.

That would be the Garden Grill restaurant -- the one that revolves in The Land at Future World in Epcot. They have what they call a "rehitching ceremony."
:)

It's an informal place, with the Disney Characters dressed as farmers.

That sounds like a good idea - - and you could bring some snacks and favorite beverage (as long as you don't have something made of glass, for safety) to celebrate up there. Or, if you can spend more, there's a private cruise you could book to watch the fireworks in an even more romantic way.

Speaking for both of us, it is our pleasure to help!

Thanks so much -- we'll be at wdw Sept 30th -- and I will let the missus decide what she wants to do for the evening.

I'm hoping I can contain the surprise until then.

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS! You might want to do the Fireworks cruise. My hubby and I did that on our 15th anniversary and it was wonderful! It's a pontoon boat that takes you on a tour of the lagoon for $120, and the CM knows how to be *scarce*! They will try to sell you *champagne*, which is really a bottle of Asti Spumante for $50, but you can bring your own, as well as snacks. We ordered the champagn before we knew we could bring our own. Chocolate-covered strawberries go for $50, too! But we didn't order or bring in snacks because we were leaving right after dinner at 'Ohanna's, knowing we would be stuffed, even though we had time for a romantic walk along th beach before departing. I also brought along our wedding champagne glasses which have the castle engraved in gold. If you have the extra money they will decorate the boat for you wish some balloons and streamers, but it is a little expensive. I hope you have a great time!
