Elegant Ceremony and Magical Setting At Walt Disney World Resort's Wedding Pavilion

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Couples who are looking to exchange vows in the quintessential fairy tale setting will find just that at Disney's Wedding Pavilion.

Built on a private island surrounded by Seven Seas Lagoon, the glass-enclosed pavilion evokes images of a Victorian summer house. Swaying palm trees envelop the solarium, which offers a picturesque backdrop of Cinderella Castle.

Located south of Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, the non-denominational "wedding pavilion" can accommodate everything from large-scale fairy tale weddings with up to 250 guests . . . to intimate gatherings of two.

Traditionally recognized as a popular honeymoon destination, Walt Disney World Resort is now a wedding destination with an average of 2,000 couples tying the knot each year. Beyond Disney's Wedding Pavilion, nuptials at Walt Disney World Resort also take place in outdoor garden settings, gazebos and courtyards, as well as indoor resort locations. All told, more than 20,000 couples have married at Walt Disney World Resort.

"The pavilion gives couples an elegant indoor setting with the romance of Cinderella Castle visible in the distance," said George Aguel, vice president resort sales, planning and development, Walt Disney Attractions.

Franck's -- a re-creation of Franck's studio from the hit Touchstone movie "Father of the Bride" -- showcases all of Disney's wedding offerings. The salon is elegantly styled with French provincial furniture and antique portraits in gilt. Classical music plays quietly in the background. Franck's has Disney experts who custom-design each event. Brides-to-be can select all the elements that comprise a storybook wedding: music, entertainment, photography, candelabras, centerpieces, sample specialty linens, fresh floral arrangements, world-class cuisine, cakes and guest books.

The pavilion also provides planning rooms and private dressing rooms for the bridal party. Wedding-related merchandise is available for purchase a short stroll away at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

A variety of fantasy receptions can be planned at one of Disney's luxurious resorts -- Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney's BoardWalk, Disney's Yacht Club Resort, Disney's Beach Club Resort and Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. The sky is the limit with themes from "Beauty and the Beast," "Aladdin" and even an Animal Kingdom Safari reception . . . to an ultimate Cinderella ball -- the bride arrives in Cinderella's glass carriage drawn by white ponies, and a 60-foot-tall replica of Cinderella Castle with twinkling lights serves as the backdrop for the reception. The fairy godmother and stepsisters mingle with guests at the reception. Dessert is served in a white chocolate glass slipper.

Fun-filled memories await couples and their guests at the new Disney's Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, Epcot and Disney-MGM Studios. In the evening, couples can choose from exciting dinner shows and romantic candlelit dinners or kick up their heels at Downtown Disney. Family members also can enjoy the excitement of staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel with specially priced accommodations.
