Hi all!

I have been lucky to visit Disney World many times over the years, but never any time after June. As kids, my Dad took us almost every year during Easter - A VERY BUSY TIME! I am curious if anyone can offer their thoughts on park attendance in late October? I have been making a number of PS arrangements and have found a number of things to be more difficult than I would have anticipated. Can anyone shed some light on what October is like (I will be there 10/21 thru 10/26). Anything you can add will help me greatly in planning a once-in-a-lifetime trip for my dd's (ages 2&4).

We went last year around that time, and are going again this year. I did not think the crowds were bad with the exception of MK on a Sat night- that was terrible.
I don't know what that Fairytale package will do to the attendance this year... I hope it is not packed!

Well, I have never been to WDW in Oct so I can't tell you about the crowds.  However, I lived in Naples, FL for five years and can tell you that in my personal opinion, Oct is the NICEST month of the year for weather.  It's not humid, the rains have stopped.  The sky is blue, not hazy.  Just perfect.  Enjoy your trip!

I'm looking forward to our 1st Oct. trip also.  We went in Dec. 2001 and LOVED it.  WDW is beautiful when decorated for the holidays.  We planned our next trip for Dec. 2003 ....... then the FTP happened and here we are going in Oct.

I am excited about going to MNSSHP and the parks will be open later this visit.  But, I am hoping that the crowds won't be overwhelming (compared to early Dec.)- but they can't be any worse than us dealing with the Pop Warner crowd ::::will never go when they are there again:::

You guys are all terrific! Thanks so much!!

I guess I'm one of those "over-planners" (I'm sure my dw will be driven crazy by Oct). We've got Four 4-day park hoppers, and I'm wondering whether to use 1 day the Tuesday we arrive (should have about 5-6 hours of use), or if I should wait and use them our last full day which is a Saturday. Even with large MK crowds on Sat., I think I'd like my dd's to see Spectromagic and the Fireworks on their last night. Sort of a climax to a week of magic.  :sorcerer:

Yoo Hoo, Cyril!

Only problem with that plan: If it rains that night and SpectroMagic and the fireworks get cancelled, you have no other night to fall back on to see them, since it willl be your last night there.

OUCH!!!  That's a really good point, Rich! I've got to keep that in mind. It is my understanding there will be Spectromagic Tues the 21st and Sat the 25th. Fireworks happen almost every evening (according to Disney's site.) throughout this week.

A lot of this depends on the package we receive. Some might remember I was the lucky person who won a trip to Disney by way of a radio station give-away. We are supposed to receive four 4-day park hopper passes. Now, If I have a daughter who is 2, she gets in free, right? And if we do receive the 4 passes (stated on our sheet from Disney Travel Company), I can get 5 days between myself, my wife and my 4 year old. This would give us access to the parks on that first Tuesday.

Anyway... Now everyone can see that I am over-analyzing everything in regards to this trip. My one defense is that I want to make this trip every bit as magical for my dd's as my parents used to make it for me.

I don't suppose there is any such 'half-day' entry to a single park, is there?

Cyril
Is this really a once in a lifetime trip, or do you think you will be going back? Because if you are, you can always use that remaining park hopper on your next trip- they are good forever.
I am an el-cheapo, but I would not use a day on a hopper for 5-6 hours- I like to get my $ out of it and go from open til close!
Unfortunately, there are no part day passes, unless you get the ultimate park hopper with your stay at a Disney resort.

Here are a few non park ideas for your first day:
1) get a ps at a non park restaurant for a character dinner
2) go to one of the 'free' programs at one of the resorts. I have heard that the campfire program at Fort Wilderness is great, and you only have to pay $5 for s'more fixings(if you want them). Chip and Dale are there- there is a sing along, and they show a Disney movie, and you can watch the electric water parade after. I have also heard people talk about a storyteller program at AKL(but I don't know much about it).
3) go to downtown disney to the lego place
4) take your kids on a ride on the monorail
5) enjoy the pool at your resort

Congrats on winning a trip to Disney!! Where are you staying?
You are going to have such fun with your daughters! I think they are at a great age to experience the magic!
