Cast of Characters:
Me - WDW nut & trip planner
DH - Doesn’t get it but has fun while there
DS10 - Psyched
DS8 - Nervous about going
DS15mon - Happy boy, ready for anything
We began our day finally feeling well rested. Driving 1000 miles can really take it out of you. We had a quick breakfast in the room. I had brought some items with me and found running to Capt’n Cooks for beverages and maybe a few extras was very cost effective for us. Coffee from Capt’n Cooks is horrible (IMHO) so after this day I went upstairs to the Kona Coffee Bar for our coffee. Less cost effective (@ $5 a day)? Yes, but I really need a good cup of coffee in the morning.
EPCOT was my plan for the day. We even had a PS at Le Cellier. But dh could not stand ds15months hair any longer. He really wanted to go to MK to get it taken care of. So we got on the monorail (I’m loving this monorail thing) and arrived at MK at 9:30 AM. The barbershop had a bit of a line already but my dh was determined to get this done. So we waited. It wasn’t too bad because there were many, many characters out and about and not too many people (at this point). As the characters walked either in or out of the area where they take their breaks they all came over to the barbershop to shake hands and give out hugs. Even Captain Hook was very lovable. My ds10 was very anti-character, or anything he deemed as juvenile for that matter. The funny thing is everyone seemed to sense it and therefore he got even more attention. Had he just been nonchalant he would have been fine but no I’m sure he rolled his eyes a few too many times and therefore had to suffer through all the attention. Of course his mom and dad, who figured this out right away, never filled him in. Hey, I thought it was a riot.
After waiting about 20 minutes my dh suggested I take ds10 & ds8 on a ride and he would call me when they were ready for ds15months. We were out of there before he finished the sentence and sped over to Splash Mountain. It was a walk-on ~ great. We got a boat all to ourselves in the front row. I love this ride! I mean absolutely, positively love it. I can never find the hidden Mickey in the clouds though. Is there one? We were ready to ride again but the phone rang. Aw, already? Apparently a couple of kids totally freaked out and so my ds moved up rather quickly. So back we went. Dh let a few people in ahead because we didn’t get back quick enough but it was fine. We had Michael cutting ds hair and he was great. Very good with kids and quite pleasant for the parents to talk to also. He covered my ds with stickers and ds thought it was a riot of course. Really does the trick though to keep the kids occupied. Not a tear was shed. My little baby boy now no longer looks like a baby (this is where I almost shed a tear.) Michael wrapped up a good bit of ds’s hair, presented him with a certificate, and of course gave him his “first haircut” mouse ears. And a few more stickers for the road. It was really fun. I’m so glad we did this. Quite a bargin at $12 + tip. And yet again ds10 was accousted with disney magic. Michael put pixie dust in ds10 & ds8’s hair. Ds8 loved it but ds10 was like “Oh man, get this stuff off me.” Michael said, “I sorry, let me help you with that.” And while he pretended to brush the “pixie dust” out of ds10’s hair he was actually putting more in. Hee hee. I love it. Click here if you would like to see photos.
O.K. Where to next? Ds15months had not been on a ride yet this whole vacation so we thought we would give Buzz a spin. He sat between me and dh with his mouth wide open. After we got out he kept saying, “You see the lights, I see the lights.” He really has a thing for lights and fans. First ride was a big success. Everyone wanted a spin on the TTA. Just the thing for a hot day. Did you ever exit a ride and feel like you walked into another world. That’s what happened to us. Tommorowland was now packed! Where did all these people come from so fast? We knew we would be back that night so we were going to leave but ds8 wanted to ride Goofy’s Barnstormer so we took the “secret” path over to MTTF. There was hardly anyone on this path, I wonder if it really is a secret? That soon changed when we entered Toon Town. Oh yeah, here is where everyone is. Barnstormer was only 25 min. so dh went on with ds8 & ds10. While ds15months and I waited Goofy came out and I got a great picture of him with ds. We then walked over to Minnie’s house. Cute, but I think Minnie needs central air. Pal Mickey told us that Minnie was greeting people and he would sure like to see her but we passed ~ very crowded. We grabbed some fruit from the produce stand ~ very refreshing, and waited a bit longer for dh & sons. By the time they came off the baby was getting sleepy to I went back to the room and they headed over to Splash so dh could ride. We all met up again at Konas for lunch. Very good meal and service. Our server was Gary. Very friendly and good. We spent the rest of the afternoon resting up for MNSSHP and watching football.
Me, ds10, & ds8 went over to MK for the party at 6:30 PM and dh & ds15months were to follow after the Eagle game. Dh called while we were on the monorail ~ the power went out! I looked out the window and sure enough half of the Poly was dark. He was going to come over at that point but the power came back on so he watched the rest of the game. Hey the Eagles actually won that day! Meanwhile we got into the park with no problem. There were lots of workers to handle the crowds. We each got a treat bag (yes, even me) and were on our way. My boys were more interested in rides then in trick-or-treating. We started off in Adventureland. We watched a pirate trio singing, they were fun and then we jumped on Pirates. We got our own boat! Very spooky in the dark, all alone. Jungle Cruise was next. We had a pretty good guide. “Hey, can anyone tell me what kind of snake that is over there?” “Anacondor?” “No.” “Python?” “No.” “Cobra?” “No. It’s a plastic snake!” Oh, she had a million of them. Also very spooky in the dark. It was almost time for the parade so we trick-or-treated our way out to Main St. Here comes the Headless Horseman! Very cool. My dh called to say they had arrived so we walked to the train station. We had to wait for the parade to go by before we could meet up. Really fun and cute. My ds15 months was dressed as Pooh. He was so cute but a little warm. We rode a few rides Buzz, Astro Orbiter, Pooh (ds15months was a big hit there) & then Mickey’s Philharmagic. Oh my! That movie is great. It is so clear, when Ariel reaches out to the audience ~ amazing. I still think ITTBAB is more fun but the graphics of Mickey’s Philharmagic are by far the best ever. We missed the fireworks while inside though. Did some more trick-or-treating and then tried to get on HM. Very crowded, although the wait time said 13 minutes. I think that was a joke. We saw the parade one more time and then called it a night. Even though we did low key trick-or-treating the CM’s handed out handfuls at times so we had quite a bit of booty. Here are some photos and even a video (32 mb ) if you care to see.
Next up: Peaceful morning by the pool, DTD, Ohana’s & Mission Space!

Sometimes, when you are a Bear of Very Little Brain, and you Think of Things, you find sometimes that a Thing which seemed very Thingish inside you is quite different when it gets out into the open and has other people looking at it.
