Yoo Hoo, Disney EchoEars!

Here's news about upcoming Disney DVDs, from

[b]Look out Shrek, Monsters, Inc. is Trying to One Up You on DVD

The competition between Shrek and Monsters, Inc. just got hotter. Disney announced that Monsters, Inc. will arrive Sept. 17 on DVD in a deluxe two-disc special edition (Buena Vista Home Entertainment, อ.99) with more new footage than the DreamWorks/PDI smash hit. At a cost of millions of dollars and specifically made for the DVD, Pixar is pulling out all the stops to show off its industry-leading CG animation. The Monsters, Inc. DVD will include an all-new short, Mike's New Car, featuring the voice talents of John Goodman and Billy Crystal, a music featurette, "If I Didn't Have You," performed by Crystal and Goodman. Plus outtakes, including the "Company Play'' performance of "Put That Thing Back Where It Came From Or So Help Me."

In addition, the Oscar-nominated Pixar short, For the Birds, will be included, as well as a sneak peek of Disney/Pixar’s upcoming Finding Nemo.

And, in keeping with Disney and Pixar’s totally immersive DVD trend, Monsters, Inc. will contain the "Monster World" and the "Human World," appealing to both discerning animation viewers and families who enjoy the interactive and engaging bonus features that DVDs can provide.

The "Monster World'' portion of the disc allows viewers to enter the alternate world of Monstropolis and join Monsters, Inc. for a first day on the job, learning all about Monstropolis' wonderful world. Viewers literally become employees at the Monsters, Inc. factory, starting their day with Roz as they learn about the monsters, explore the hysterical employee handbook and learn about the uproarious history of the monster world. Other features include the "Disney/Pixar Storytime-Welcome to Monstropolis'' program, an all-new storybook of monster adventures; "Boo's Door Game,'' a set-top adventure featuring Sulley and other characters from the film; DVD-ROM features and more.

In the "Human World", film buffs are invited to go behind the scenes with the "humans" at Pixar and Disney to see how this incredible film was created. Included in the "Human World'' is a fascinating and comprehensive tour through all aspects of this animated hit, including in-depth behind-the-scenes programs, abandoned concepts, 3D location flyarounds, a tour through Pixar's Fabulous Fun Factory and a featurette on Randy Newman's Oscar-nominated song "If I Didn't Have You.''

In addition to Monster’s, Inc., Disney announced the following upcoming DVD releases: The special Pearl Harbor Vista four-disc DVD edition and director’s cut (July 2); the Beauty and the Beast Platinum special edition, featuring three versions, including the latest one with "Human Again" and the Work-In-Progress edition (Oct. 8); Schoolhouse Rock 30th Anniversary Edition (Aug. 27); Tarzan & Jane, adapted from the animated series (July 23); Mickey’s House of Villains, culled from the House of Mouse series; and Oliver & Company (May 21).

Not announced but in the works are Swiss Family Robinson, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, The Parent Trap and Polyanna.
