UPDATE: DISNEY CANCELS 180 DAY OUT IDEA
This is from pscalculator.net:
Starting on August 4, 2003, Walt Disney World as announced the following Priority Seating (PS) Policy will go into effect:
Please note that the information shared last night regarding the WDTC 180 Day Advance Dining Reservation has been discontinued.
Our Executive Leaders have made the decision to NOT pursue this benefit effective immediately.
DRS booking window will be standardized to 90 days for ALL Guests beginning August 4
Over the last several days, you have received several different communications concerning a new policy that would have allowed Guests to book DRS reservations 180 days in advance if they have booked a Travel Company package with the appropriate deposit.
We knew that the original policy with multiple booking windows was confusing to our Guests and Cast so we wanted to standardize this policy and thought about adding a different booking window to benefit other businesses. This approach also began to create some confusion, so we have decided to further study the policy.
Therefore, due to Guest and Cast feedback we will hold off on implementing this new policy until further notice.
Beginning August 4, the DRS booking window will be standardized to 90 days out for anyone who wants to book a priority seating at any WDW location except the following:
This is a big win for our Guests because they will all have the ability to book their priority seating within a standard window and will not have to call back multiple times.
NEW UPDATE: As of 6:30 PM on July 31st, 2003, the 90 Day PS for ALL Guests and ALL restaurants except for those mentioned above will be the new PS policy starting August 4, 2003. This includes ALL characters meals (Cinderella's Royal Table Breakfast, too), all Resort and Themepark PS Restaurants, Fantasmic! Dinner Package, Grand Floridian Kid's Programs (The Pirate Cruise, Wonderland Tea Party, Grand Adventures in Cooking) and evening care facilities like the Neverland Club.
Recreation activities like fishing, water sports, Illuminations cruises, horse-back riding, golf, golf carts and tennis will remain the same (see PS Calculator).
Lastly, many people will be calling on Monday, August 4, to make PS for CRT. I am very optimistic most everyone will get their dates as instead of everyone trying for the same day, it will be spread out over many dates. The 90 day mark is November 2, 2003. If you want to eat at any PS restaurant or character meal and you are within the 90 day window, you can call and make them on August 4th. Be patient, there will be large call volumes all next week as the initial backlog of people who were waiting for their 60 day PS mark are now able to book much sooner. Then there's people like me who were coming up on their 120 day mark who now have to wait another 30 days.
PSCalculator.net updates will be taking place over the next few weeks. Once the OFFICIAL announcement is made, I will start work on updating the PS Report but it shouldn't take too long. The PS Calculator has always had a 90 day break down so it is still a useful tool in your PS planning. Many of my PS Spotlights will need to be updated to reflect the new 90 day PS policy.
