I would like to share a story about a wonderful experience I've had with one particular WDW CM.

I have been to Disney twice; once when I was 14, and once to DTD with my Avon district for the '99 Avon Convention.  So, to say I'm a rookie planner is not overstating me at all.

I am, however, in love with most things Disney.  I have been dreaming of this trip since the day I discovered I was pregnant with my oldest child.  We have a Disney Jar, which holds our spare change; money to save toward our "someday trip."

Late last year, I decided to start investigating the trip in more detail.  The more I researched, the less I felt we could afford a trip this year.  I prayed, though, that somehow it would happen.

Lo and behold, DH received a LARGE bonus in April, enough to justify a Disney trip!  So, being me, the first thing I did was go to Google and type in Walt Disney World.  I joined a mailing list, listed on message boards, and found Rich on one list.  He encouraged me to share this story.

I have a theater background, and when the situation is justified, I use it.  So, when I call WDW for anything, I take on the role of Disney, and walk the walk, and talk the talk.  One particular CM really went above and beyond in his reaction to that.  I told him I was having problems getting my husband excited about the trip, and understanding the Fairytale package.  He asked if he could speak to my husband (who was standing in the background glaring, because he thought I was being weird about spreading pixie dust).  DH didn't want to speak, so I put the CM on speaker phone.  He explained the package to DH in full detail, and spoke to DH about all things available to him when he felt "over Mickeyed."  We were on line with this guy for over 20 minutes, and by the end of the conversation, DH was actually looking forward to our trip!  I don't remember the CM's name, unfortunately, but because of him, I'm having more fun than ever planning this trip.

I also had another good experience with a CM the other day.  I was changing my Chef Mickey's PS, and mentioned my DH's inability to get completely immersed in this.  The CM asked for DH's name, and has sent him a video of WDW for adults!  

I am so pleased at how Disney trains their CMs.  Only once have I been put off by one (and that's because I felt he was trying to sell me more than I wanted).  Every other call has been wonderful, and they have all gone above and beyond the call of duty.  They give me tips and tricks I never would have thought of.  They are kind and generous.  And they get in the Disney spirit!  I would love to have a job like that some day.

I can testify to the fact that yes, indeed, a bonafide non-Disney type CAN be turned around!  Guess what my DH told me today?  He had downloaded a Windows PC program called ListPro and one of the "lists" you can download is about WDW!  He now has that on his handheld and is reading all about the different parks and attractions and is getting excited about our trip.  

Wasn't due to a CM, but I know when he actually meets some of the people on our trip he is going to be as impressed as I am.  I have had the best email exchange with the folks at the Polynesian.  I feel like they go "above and beyond" but I have a sense that they feel they're "just doing their job"--that's the standard and they just do it, it's expected.  Maybe the real problem is I've just become accustomed to NO service, or perfunctory service everywhere I go.  Anyway, it's refreshing, and I'm glad you've had a great experience planning your Fairy Tale trip!

Would you mind emailing the Polynesian concierge folks and asking them what "pantry service" at the concierge level is all about? Thanks!

I thought Steve answered that on another thread--he said it was the laundry service, but I'll check!

Yes, if you don't mind, please double-check.

And if it is laundry service, please ask if it is any different or at any different rate than any Guest at a WDW Resort (even those not in concierge level) are offered. Thanks!

I have to second your thoughts about the folks at the Poly Concierage!  I know that I am really into controlling all aspects of our trip, but my DH convinced me to let them make our PSs.  They have been extremely helpful and when I mention that I know I am being a pain, they always answer with friendly remarks.  As my DH says, by the time I get there they will all know about us intimately!  Just 96 days and I will get to meet them in person!  Yeah to Aida and Tara! :clap:

I've got to agree.  Tara is a blessing.  She has gone above and beyond, and always with a smile in her email or voice.  I have had numerous changes to our trip including changing the dates and adding a person.  PS's had to be adjusted several times.  

I hope I get to meet her when I'm there.  She is a wonderful person.  Her mom should be proud!

I hope I'd be the same way if I had a full-time job at WDW like hers! At least I think I would be that way.

We had a very wonderful experience with a cast member the last time we went to Disney when we ate at Kona's @ the Poly. Not only did she provide us with a complimentary bowl of soup when my meal ran late, but she found us a nicer table when the a/c vent above ours started to "sweat" on the table. When I mentioned that I was there for my birthday, she surprised me out of the blue with a complimentary dessert served on a plate that had "happy birthday" in milk chocolate (yum!;) written on it! She even made arrangements for the recipie for the special bread they make there to be e-mailed to me. (as soon as I get it I will share it with all of you). By the time I left, I had completely forgotten the 45 mile backup I had had to endure to get there and was doing my own happy birthday dance! :happydance:
