The Salvation Army and Disney Team Up for the Holidays
DisneyHand, Worldwide Outreach for The Walt Disney Company, To Help Supply Thanksgiving Dinner, Adopt Low-Income Families and Provide Food and Toy Boxes for Men, Women and Children in Need
LOS ANGELES, Nov 10, 2003 -- The Salvation Army and DisneyHand, worldwide outreach for The Walt Disney Company, announced today that they will work together this holiday season, during which DisneyHand will assist more than 3,500 homeless and low-income men, women and children in Southern California who will turn to The Salvation Army for assistance during Thanksgiving and Christmas.
"We are truly blessed to have the help of DisneyHand this holiday season," said Lt. Colonel Alfred Van Cleef, Divisional Commander for The Salvation Army Southern California Division. "Their generous financial and volunteer support of The Salvation Army will enable us to assist thousands of families in need."
DisneyHand will serve as the title sponsor of The Salvation Army Southern California Division's Thanksgiving Eve Dinner, providing meals for 2,400 homeless and low-income men, women and children, an entertainment show for all in attendance, toys for every boy and girl and 250 volunteer servers. During Christmas, employees of Disney will adopt deserving families, providing them a very Merry Christmas with gifts of toys for the children and gifts for the adults.
