Yoo Hoo, Disney EchoEars!

I'm taking a quick, informal poll to see if y'all would like me to add a chat feature on the Disney Echo.

It would be available instantly, with nothing for you to install on your computer, and it would use your log-in name automatically. All you'd have to do is be logged in to the Disney Echo.

There are plenty of other ways to do live chat already, however, such as the various instant messaging services out there and even the EMuck chat and role-playing game environment provided by our host, emuck.com.

The live chat modification I've seen that I could add to the Disney Echo is fairly new, however, and at this point lacks the ability to see if anyone else is in the chat environment unless they answer you. It does easily let you "talk" in real time (using text, of course) as well as "act" or "pose" an action (Such as: RichKoster waits for an answer.)

So, vote above on whether or not you'd like me to add this live chat feature to the Disney Echo and I'll see if there's enough interest in it.

Registered Disney EchoEars (and not Guests) may vote once in this poll. After voting you will be shown the current vote totals. Note: If you click the button that says...
Code Sample
'View Results (Null Vote)'
...to view the totals before voting, you will not be able to vote later (because seeing the current voting patterns would have an influence on the outcome of the poll). You may only vote once.

Would this be the form of another forum?

No, this would not involve any saved messages. It would only be real-time, and only for the people who are in the chat at that time (unless someone decided to cut and paste to save a copy, which would not be easy to do, as a save feature would not be supported).

It opens up a new window that has a huge text area showing the conversation going on. Along the bottom is your own text entry area with the option to click a button to have you "say" it or perform an action.

Hopefully this add-on would be further enhanced to show a list of people currently in that chat area, but as of now if you enter and no one says or does anything, you have no idea who is in there.

This would be a wonderful idea, the only problem is my wife would never be able to drag me away from the computer LOL

By the way thanks for fixing my posting problem Rich, I was afraid I would be marooned in Never Land!  :tear:
