Who out there ever got to see the Mickey Mouse cartoon Runaway Brain?

I'm curious to know reactions to it. Disney seems to be going out of their way to let people forget about it.

I loved it!

When the Disney Channel had a Mickey cartoon marathon recently, it was one of the ones shown.

Oops! I originally wrote "When the Disney Echo had a Mickey cartoon marathon...

Yoo Hoo, Goofyteer!

Here's more information about "Runaway Brain" on The Encyclopedia of Disney Animated Shorts website.

"Runaway Brain" was a GREAT cartoon!!  I never got to see it when it ran theatrically, I had to get a copy of it from overseas to finally see it.  Micky is the best in it and I love the modern touches (the Snow White video game) and it was just a great short.  I can see how it's a little too intense for really young viewers, but I can't really see why it's been tagged as such a shameful toon......

........then again, I don't really understand how films are rated in this country anyway.  I don't know how the MPAA figured that "Lilo & Stitch" should be rated PG and "Finding Nemo" is rated G..........there were parts of that movie that I thought were really scary and intense.  That fish with the big teeth..............YOWW!!!

I hope that one day it can get a release as maybe an extra on a DVD or something............I wish there'd be more Mickey video releases.  House Of Villains and the Christmas videos were the best, keep them coming!!!!  Wouldn't a set of House Of Mouse DVD's be great?  :mickey:

I don't think Runaway Brain has ever been tagged as being shameful, even if some people have posted that they think Disney is trying to forget about it - - I just don't think that's true. I believe Disney just hasn't found the right place to market it on DVD yet. After all, you can't just release one cartoon short on DVD, it would have to be with other things.

I saw it in the theaters (as well as on Toon Disney in that marathon) before a Disney's features "A Kid In King Arthur's Court" and "George of the Jungle." Yes, they released the cartoon in front of two separate features, so I don't think Disney thought it was shameful or anything. By the way, I liked the cartoon much better than those features.

The Disney Channel showed it? That's wonderful! I kept getting the idea from pages like the Disney Shorts Encyclopedia one that Disney supposedly wants people to forget it.

When I recently saw it I didn't think it was any more unusual than any of the House of Mouse cartoons I've seen. So maybe it will show up one way or another. I sure hope you guys are right!

I agree that a House of Mouse DVD collection would be great. I would really love that a lot...

Yes, it was part of a birthday marathon celebration for Mickey in 2001. It's one of my pet peeves that there's never a big celebration for Minnie, when they both appeared at the same time in the same cartoon!
:glare:

Funny you should mention that you didn't think it was any more unusual than any of the House of Mouse cartoons... When I saw the series of "Mickey Rescues Minnie" cartoons on Disney's Mickey MouseWorks (which later was turned into House of Mouse), I was reminded of the rescue plot in Runaway Brain.

I agree! I also thought Runaway Brain was no more wild than that one House of Mouse cartoon called Organ Donors. Ever see that one?

No celebration for Minnie?! That's unbelievable!

I like Organ Donors a lot!

"Organ Donors, we..."

Remember the rest of the line?

"Organ donors, we donate ORGANS!"

And later on, after everything has happened...

"Er... that's PIPE organs!"

How's that? :mickey:

That toymaker was so weird! I wonder what his background was, he was so warped! I did like the bed he had in that bedroom though. The one that looked like a giant red wagon?
