My family and I were lucky enough to be at the world premEAR of Hunchback of Notre Dame! The festivities were in New Orleans and Disney flew in many of the top brass, including Eisner himself, and just about all the animators!

Disney hosted a Mardi Gras-style parade in the streets of New Orleans complete with Disney floats and in keeping with the local parade traditions, doubloons were thrown into the crowd. The parade began at Jackson Square in the French Quarter (where previously a small stage had been set up for a Disney-style press announcement about the festivities) and a lot of the Disney Characters were on hand for the start of the parade, dancing in the street. Patrick (Bobby Ewing) Duffy hosted a TV broadcast of all the festivities on the Disney Channel, which also included a Disney stage show inside the Louisiana Superdome. That spectacular stage show had a live orchestra and many top-quality Disney stars singing their famous Disney songs, such as Peabo Bryson and Jodi Benson. My son Michael was only a few months old at the time, but we brought him and he loved it, as we did. At the end of the show (complete with fireworks inside the Superdome as well as confetti), the HoND movie was shown -- for the very first time anywhere for the public to see.

We were totally blown away by the Disney presentation and movie, as you can imagine.

I personally love this movie, but find it a bit on the dark side for little ones.  I remember sitting there watching it with my daughter when it came out going, "we should really leave, this is kind of scaring her!"  We watched it together on video recently and she enjoyed it, now that she's 12, but we noticed our four year old was leaving the room as fast as possible.  I don't think Disney should always make movies just for little kids, though, so I'm glad this one is in their line-up.

When we went to MGM 6 years ago we saw the show and loved it.

Funny you should ask about HOND. My daughter and I were just watching it tonight on VHS. The animation is top notch and I love the soundtrack. We've been watching a Disney movie every night before school starts. I think I have everyone! Last night was Bambi, tmorrow is Tarzan.

Only 75 days until we go to WDW.

Hey everyone,
The show that I am talking about is from MGM. A couple of my friends were characters in the show so I love it a lot. I really don't like the movie except when Clopin comes in. He is my favorite. As if you all couldn't tell. Well got to go ring the bells. Thanks

Yoo Hoo, ClopinFan!

I assume you're also looking for fans of the Disneyland version of the show to post comments about it, too, so I moved this topic to the general Disney forum.
