 Well I have the autograph books done.  I ordered the DL Vacation Planning VHS and it came yesterday.  The kids keep watching it over and over.  I bought DL with Kids, Unofficial Guide to DL and Birnbaum's DL Resort books.  I have wall maps coming so we can start planning our days.   :tounge: Hope we can wait until December.  At least, every day we get closer.

What we do is put numbers on each calendar day showing how many days left until we go to Disney. On the day before, we put a 1, the day before that a 2, and so on. Keep going until you get to today's date.

Then each morning we put a big black X through yesterday on the calendar and the person who was lucky enough to mark it off that day announces for all to hear, "17 days until Walt Disney World" (just an example, use your own number of days and location). :D

This is something that gets the kids all excited (and us grown-ups, too!;) ;-)

That is a good idea.  Considering the kids are 3 and 5 it might help them relate to how long they have to wait.

You might use an idea that I read on another board, while I have never done it myself it just sounds so cute.  Go to the disney store or use the web and purchase some postcards.  Address them to the kids and write little messages on them from thier favoite characters. (Example: A postcard with Mickey Mouse on it and note that reads "I've just been told that you are coming to visit me.  I am looking so forward to seeing you.  Please stop by and visit.  Love Mickey")  You can use the princess or one of the toy story characters, just a favoite character.  Drop the cards in the mail and watch the kids when they arrive.  Then take the postcards with you to disneyland and find that character and have them sign it for the kids.   I thought it was such a cute idea.  Also get autograph books, the kids will want them.

Good idea, Tink60! I'd suggest a modification to sending a postcard to your children from a Disney character . . . send email instead. Here's why:

With a postcard, you'll need to use the same handwriting / signature style that the kids will later get in their autograph books from the characters themselves. It will be very obvious that they don't match if you bring the postcard to the parks for the characters to sign.

But with email, you can even print it out to bring with you and since it is not handwritten there won't be this problem. Cut off the "From:" line from the printout to keep the illusion.
;)

You can include Disney stationary on the email, even a graphic or picture of the character, too!

Thanks Tink60 and Rich    Those are both great ideas.  I think I will do the postcard thing but not take them with us.  I am also going to do the e-mail and they can take those with them. :tounge:
