My travel agent told me that with my Disneyland trip days being on the 18-21 of December, I was visiting during her favorite time of the year. She says that "the park will be dead" and that "no one shows up until Christmas day and the following week". Here's my question, how dead is dead? I don't mind at all if it turns out to be near deserted, in fact I'd enjoy that a lot! I'd like to get an idea of how small the crowds are during that time. Anyone know?

According to the charts I've seen in Birnbaum's guide, that time of year is the least attended of the entire year! Disney doesn't give out attendance numbers, so that's the best I can do.

WOW!

Wouldn't that be the grooviest thing if I got the park practically all to myself? Maybe even a character riding on a ride with me?

I wonder why that's the lowest time of the year. You would think it would be the highest with Christmas coming up. Or maybe that's when everyone's working extra time for presents or visiting relatives?

Hello,

Over the past few years Disneyland has become much more crowded this time of year than traditionally.  With the transformation to the Merriest Place on Earth the park routinely fills up on weekends and the week between Christmas and New Years.  With Christmas being on a Thursday this year I would bet that those days will be somewhat crowded, but not jammed.  It also depends on any specials they run... they have run local discounts and evening passes that really make the park crowded.

From experience I think the late January - late Feb is really a slow time at the Disneyland Resort.  The first couple weeks of December are not too bad either and the park is all decked out too.  The closer you get to Christmas the more crowded it gets.. (not counting the weekends which are usually crowded with locals during the holidays).

To get the feeling of the park to yourself be sure to arrive before opening...  the first couple of hours are usually the lightest, especially over at DCA...
