+---Topic: Getting from the airport to WDW started by RichKoster

Yoo Hoo!

I just got off the phone with Happy Limo, verifying what their rate would be for a round-trip from the Orlando airport to the Polynesian Resort in a towncar.

Even with a < Disney Dollarless > discount (which I was told by them that the $10 discount is only good for a *stretch* limo, and that for a towncar the DDL discount is only $5), the total roundtrip cost -- including the tip (which they build in for you) -- would be $113.
:o

This includes a $9 surcharge they tack on for being dropped off at any of the Magic Kingdom resorts.
:pissed:

I find this a bit high, and have a feeling I now know why Happy Limo is so happy.
:eyebrow:  :dollar:

Does anyone know how much it would cost to just take a taxi from the airport to the Polynesian resort? The basic one-way rate would be fine if you can pass that along -- I can convert it to round-trip and figure my own tip, by the way.

Have you tried Mears...its usually a van of sorts....if I remember correctly its $19.00 one way and will take you to any resort on WDW property.   ummmm...can't remember how to get ahold of them to make a reservation...if you want me to get you an Orlando phone number...just PM me :)

We are using Happy Limo this weekend when we arrive.  We are paying $96 RT total INCLUDING gratuitiy and surcharges.  Happy Limo states they will match/beat any quote you recieve (they verify it).  I did a search and got a quote from Midnight Limo (I have NEVER heard of them before)...that quote was $80 (plus 20% gratuity)---the $96 RT total.  Happy Limio was great about matching that price---I have read positive reviews about them.

I would try and get a quote from Midnight limo www.midnightlimousines.com and have Happy Limo match them.

Thanks, Kelly & Meredith!

At this point, I am leaning to using the Mears shuttle even though they probably will be letting off most if not all of the other Guests in our van before I get to the Polynesian. Their rate of $28 roundtrip is very tempting.

I've used Mears many times - - sometimes they put everyone on a full-size van and one time it was actually a Mears bus. I found their website at < http://www.mearstransportation.com/ >

We usually stay at All Star Movies... I gave up on Mears, too many stops to let others off...Takes forever.... I am always too anxious to get to the resort!  I searched the web and got a great deal the past two times I went on a rental car, and just drove to WDW.... It was quicker, and I had to finally admit I could manuver around the resort on my own....
(The traffic in the area had frightened me after riding shuttle
buses... not Disney buses that is)    And, it was easier leaving the parks at night too... as much as I love WDW transportation system... I have decided to used rentals from now on....  :D

Thanks, Marsha! I still am investigating and haven't decided what to do, so I appreciate your tips.

HI Rich:  How about Tiffany Town Car?  Deb Wills highly recommends them and they have a $5.00 off coupon on their website..$85.00 roundtrip with the coupon.  Not bad..www.tiffanytowncars.com

Although we haven't gone yet (12/11 is our arrival date), I went with L&M rental for cost and convenience reasons.  I'm hoping they're reputable and I'll be happy.  I got a mid-size car for 6 days for $131.87! (that includes all fees and taxes)  We'll have the car all week and will have the convenince of driving to and from the parks on our own time schedule.  Their phone number 800-277-5171.  I'll let everyone know how it goes.

Yoo Hoo, Marianne and Nancy!

Thanks for your suggestions!

I've decided to go with a new company named < Quicksilver Tours & Transportation > (check out their impressive website).

Rich:  Week from tomorrow we have arrangements made to have Tiffany Town Car pick us up and take up to the Poly.  Round trip $90 with $5 off coupon for Round trip to Magic Kingdom Hotels.  So $85 round trip and $10 tip each time totals for a total of $105.  We are doing it for the grocery store stop and for faster pickup and hopefully faster service getting to the Poly.  Only 1 more week.  I'm so excited.

Off the subject ---if we stop at a grocery store I cannot remember if you can buy beer in the grocery store to take to your room or if it beer all sold together at a liquor store?    Here in N.C. you can buy beer and wine at the grocery store but liquor at a liquor store.  I cannot remember how it is done in Florida.

You can buy beer in grocery stores in Florida - - the better ones stock it (might be some Mom & Pop ones that don't). But you can't buy any after 2 am, as I found out when I did a late-night grocery shopping run while the rest of the family slept.
:uhoh:

You can't buy hard liquor at the supermarkets, though. If that is what you want, go to the "ABC" store north of the CrossRoads shopping center, next to the Winn Dixie Marketplace. Your driver should know where it is.

Thanks Rich.  I couldn't remember if the grocery stores stocked beer or not.  The 2 am stop is like it is here in NC.

Thanks for the information.  My husband will want beer so now I have our game plan.

Will look for you and your family on Oct. 3 for the MNSSHP.  I have my name badge ready to wear.

Only 5 more days and our arrival at the Poly!!!!!!!

I agree, Val! Gregory is the owner and a driver for < Quicksilver Tours & Transportation > and I enjoyed his service on my WDW trip this month very much! I recommend him highly.
:clapping:

If any Disney EchoEars contact them, be sure to say "Yoo Hoo!" and mention that you're an EchoEar!

I'll be writing more details in my trip report soon where I'll go into more details about the fine service Gregory provided.
