I was wondering about annual passes.  I saw in another post that there was an incredible discount on stayin in a Cabin.  We are planning on staying 8 night in NOV and I am just wondering that we might be able to save some money if I get an annual pass and get the discount.  So I have some questions:  Do you think that there will be discounts in NOV (2 weeks prior to turkey day) and if so how much advanced notice to they give you?

If I could get this discount it would save money on the cabin and have a AP to boot.

This will be my 17th time there!

Thanks!

Yoo Hoo, Brian / bvanee!

Yes, I stayed 8 nights in a Fort Wilderness Cabin in June at the Annual Passholder discount rate -- we wouldn't have stayed there even a few nights without the discount!
:dollar:

I have no idea if or when Disney will offer AP discounts on the cabins in November, but keep your ears on and keep listenin' for word about that if Disney announces it.
:ears:

You could always get your AP at your local Disney Store now and activate it to start counting down 365 days when you arrive at WDW. This locks in the current AP rate so even if it goes up before November you're covered.

And if Disney announces AP discounts, you don't have to have your AP activated until you check in -- so if you get an AP discount rate on a cabin simply stop by any of the 4 main parks at WDW to activate it before checking into Fort Wilderness.
:coonskin:

And thanks for joining the Disney Echo, Brian! Here's a pair of Disney EchoEars for you as my thanks for joining and posting a message:

Not sure if it's different Store by Store, but the two stores by me don't sell the AP Vouchers.  They said I need to purchase them when we arrive.

Just a side note that you don't actually need the AP at the second you check in, but you'll need to produce proof of it sometime before you check out of the hotel.

There are reports from some Guests, however, who have had the experience where the CM's were very strict and would not check them in at the AP discount rate without having just the AP voucher.

The reason is that some unscrupulous people could keep putting off activating that voucher (which never expires and will never need a price increase paid whenever it is turned in for the actual AP), and keep getting the AP discount perks.

But you're right -- most of the time just having the voucher and your word that you are about to exchange it for a real AP (and sometimes then having to come back later to prove it to them) is enough for most CMs.

True. It's a shame that there are people like this too.  It spoils it for everyone.

We must've been lucky because the last few times I've gone, I didn't need anything during checkin.  We usually don't purchase the AP's until that night (after we eat at Chef Mickey's).  I've never had a voucher either.

What I am wondering is how far in advance, they publish the AP dates.  And where would I see these dates posted?  Are they only posted to AP holders?  Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, there's no telling when Disney will (if at all) publish AP Rates.

They didn't post them for May-July until early April.

If I know when I want to go, I just call every morning to check.....  Other than that I don't think they really publish them anywhere.  At times they are posted in the Mickey Monitor (the AP newsletter), but not all the time.

I stand corrected.  I just returned from one of the stores and apparently you CAN get the passes at the store.  When I asked in April, there was apparently a computer problem that prevented them from getting the AP vouchers.  It has since been fixed.
