Hello again, everyone!

Sorry for my temporary absence - had a "perfect storm" of work, home, and holiday events to deal with. Since the storm's apparently broken (or I'm in the eye of the storm, I'm not sure which), thought I'd bring you up to date with what's coming up on the tube.

This is definitely you week if you like music, folks - we have a couple of new music-related events from WDW to catch. We've also got a new documentary featuring WDW from the Discovery Channel, as well as some visits from Roseanne and Samantha Brown. I'm even going to throw in a couple of parades for you this time! Get that VCR or TiVo programmed  before you go to those New Year's parties, folks. (Trust me, programming a VCR isn't something you want to try to do with a hangover.) Here's what's coming up. (As always, all times are PST and all shows are on the Travel Channel unless otherwise noted. New shows are noted with an asterisk {*} after the description.)

A. Shows About Disney Theme Parks and Resorts

Friday, January 2, 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., and Sunday, January 4, 1:00 p.m., Discovery Channel:
"America's Thrillmakers"
A look at the rides at Walt Disney World focuses on the thought and imagination that go into creating them and the riders' reactions to what they experience. Attractions featured include the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Rock N Roller Coaster, Splash Mountain, Dinosaur and Mission: Space.*

Sunday, January 4, 6:00 a.m.:
Great Hotels - "Disney's Wilderness Lodge"
Host Samantha Brown explores the Walt Disney World hotel inspired by the great national park lodges, going on a quest to find the Fire Rock Geyser and taking a wild ride through the wilderness on the Magic Kingdom's Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

Sunday, January 4, 7:00 a.m.:
Great Hotels - "Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge"
Host Samantha Brown takes us on a tour of Walt Disney World's African-themed resort, including a special early-morning safari at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

B. Shows Taking Place At Disney Theme Parks and Resorts

Monday, December 29, 11:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 30, 2:00 a.m, 8:00 p.m., and 11:00, Nick at Nite:
Roseanne - "We're Going to Disney World"
Roseanne decides to use Dan's severance check to take the family to Walt Disney World.

Monday, December 29, 11:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 30, 2:30 a.m., 8:30 p.m., and 11:30 p.m., Nick at Nite:
Roseanne - "Disney World War II"
Walt Disney World has a profound effect on Roseanne's usually complaining brood.

Wednesday, December 31, 11:30 p.m., Telemundo:
"La Fiesta De Ano Nuevo en WDW"
(Poster's note: I know the word "ano" is spelled wrong and I know what it means the way it's spelled, so please don't post a response. I can't do foreign characters with my e-mail program!) New Year's celebration from Walt Disney World hosted by Luisa Fernanda Lozano and Roberto Angelelli and featuring performances by India, Obie Bermudez, Azul Azul, Bobby Pulido, Ilegales, and El General. (Poster's other note: Program will be broadcast in Spanish.)*

Thursday, January 1, 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, January 4, 9:00 a.m., Hallmark Channel:
"Night of Joy"
Grammy-award winner Michael W. Smith and Grammy nominee Stacie Orrico co-host and perform in a celebration of contemporary Christian music from Walt Disney World.*

C. Special: Parades Featuring Disney Theme Park Floats

Thursday, January 1 - Sunday, January 4; syndicated - check local listings for time and channel:
"Florida Citrus Sports Parade"
The kickoff parade for Orlando's Florida Citrus Bowl, featuring marching bands and floats entered by various Florida theme parks including Walt Disney World.*

Thursday, January 1, 8:00 a.m. (will be rebroadcast on some channels - check local listings), ABC, NBC, CBS, Univision, Telemundo, Home and Garden Television, Travel Channel, and syndicated:
"Tournament of Roses Parade"
The annual New Year's Day spectacular from Pasadena California, featuring an Disney-sponsored float themed to the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror that will be the tallest float in parade history at almost 100 feet high.*

Whew! Made it through a long list this time! Hope everybody has a happy and safe New Year's - please don't drink and drive and DEFINITELY don't shoot guns into the air at midnight (what goes up must come down, folks; I had an acquaintance who was injured by a falling bullet a few years back). I'll talk to you again soon; until then, take care, everybody.
