We're looking at going to WDW in late August and staying at Poly with Concierge.  My kids (8 & 1.5) have never been there and my husband and I haven't been there since our honeymoon (at the Swan) in July '93.  I guess my question is this...if we do indeed do concierge, should I let them know this is a "special occasion"?  The trip is partially a 10 yr. anniversary trip, but we're taking the kids.

Thanks for your help!  :)

Yoo Hoo, ks2girlz!

Should you?

AB-SO-LUTELY!

Have this added to the comments section of your reservation now, and then also follow-up about 4-5 days before you arrive with a reminder to them about it.

This applies no matter where you stay onsite at WDW, concierge or not.

Also, let them know at all your Priority Seating reservations that you'll be celebrating your 10 year anniversary. And remember, you'll be celebrating on your entire trip - - so don't just limit it to the actual day itself.

For something really special, consider going to the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue in Fort Wilderness on the night of your anniversary. And make sure you let them know when you make reservations for that show, as well as that night when you're at the show, about your anniversary.

Carol and I did that on the night of our 20th wedding anniversary, and we had our son Michael with us to help celebrate. While the two of us danced in a spotlight in Pioneer Hall, one of the Hoop Dee Doo performers kept Michael entertained so we could have our special romantic time together.
:mickey: :hearts: :minnie:

I just hope you don't get embarrassed easily if you decide to do this at the Hoop Dee Doo...
:music: :blush2:

And ks2girlz, allow me to be the first to give you an early wedding anniversary gift for the two of you: His and hers Disney EchoEars!

Welcome to the Disney Echo!

Thanks, Rich! :)

We did the Hoop-de-Doo on our honeymoon and loved it.  That will be fun!  Oh, and thanks for the ears!

Hi all.  We just made reservations for the Poly may 8-13th.  During this time we will be celebrating our 7th anniversary and my daughter's 3rd birthday.  Her birthday is actually a few days after the trip but still, its a birthday trip and of course Mother's Day!   So my question is should all of this or only some of this be mentioned and if so how do you go about that?  Just seems odd to call and tell them simply this info for the purpose of maybe getting free stuff.  I'd like to celebrate these things but just feel a little odd about that phone call.  Just not sure how that would go?  Oh...and also we made our reservations through Southwest vacations so does this mean that I won't be able to get the word to them?

I'm interested in doing it just unsure how to go about it I guess.  Thanks for any info!

Jennifer,

I would fax the Polynesian, and say exactly what you said here, that you are celebrating your anniversary, your daughter's birthday, and Mother's Day while you'll be staying with them.  Can't hurt!  Here's their fax number:

407-824-3174

Maybe Steven can suggest the best time frame to send the fax.  Maybe six days in advance of arrival?

Yoo Hoo, Jennifer!

I agree! You should absolutely let them know with a FAX or phone call. As Steve suggests, if anyone is staying with Concierge service, you can email the Polynesian for even better service.

Disney wants to make your stay there as magical as possible and they especially want to know if you're celebrating a special occasion while you're there.

Especially at the Polynesian, think of them as "'Ohana."
:D

Welcome to the Disney Echo, Jennifer! You'll be at the Poly just a bit after I'm there, so look for a trip report I'll post here on the Disney Echo after I get back. If there's anything you'd like me to check for you in person while I'm there, just let me know!

Here's a Minnie-style pair of Disney EchoEars for you, Jennifer, and a Mickey-style one for your husband:

You can think of it as an early anniversary gift. ;)

Another question.  Since my daughter's 3rd birthday is technically after our trip should we just pick one of our days as "her Disney birthday"?  I was going to get her a birthday pin from each park.  I figure she's just about three and will enjoy any birthday wishes she gets.

Also, what are all these ears about?  Is there a page somewhere that has a legend?

Jen

Always   call and tell them when you have special occasions!

And  if  you make any priority seating anywhere  make sure you tell them at the time also!  :D
