Disney Cruise Line Stages Next Chapter of Entertainment, And Its The Most Technically Sophisticated Stage Show At Sea

Following a long-standing tradition of delivering the best in family entertainment, Disney Cruise Line adds to its line-up of original Disney musicals this year by premiering The Golden Mickeys, the most technically sophisticated stage show at sea.

The performance combines live-action theater with film, video, music and colorful pyrotechnics in a toe-tapping salute to Walt Disney and his legacy of classic animated films.

As if attending a distinguished Hollywood awards show, guests enter The Walt Disney Theatre along a red carpet lined with "paparazzi." Of course, once inside, there are stars, including Tim Allen, who speaks to guests through taped video; live performances, including the award-winning "Son of Man" from Disney's Tarzan soundtrack; elaborate sets, including dramatic Chinese silk drops, mysterious "lakes" of fog and eye-popping animated backdrops; and even a few characters.

The Golden Mickeys debuted in August aboard the Disney Wonder and is scheduled to debut in December aboard the Disney Magic.

Some 200 singers, dancers, actors, comedians, Disney characters, producers, directors and backstage assistants entertain guests nightly in The Walt Disney Theatre, a magnificent 977-seat showplace featuring elaborate lighting sets and state-of-the-art technical facilities.

The Walt Disney Theatre line-up is as follows:
  • Welcome Aboard Variety Show (Disney Magic only) Featuring singers, dancers and variety acts, this production invites guests to sit back and Be Our Guest for a fun-filled week.
  • The Golden Mickeys The newest musical aboard Disney Cruise Line honors classic animated films with the most technically sophisticated stage show at sea.
  • Hercules--The Muse-ical A vaudevillian-style salute to the ancient strongman, this musical features songs and friends from the Disney-animated classic.
  • Morty The Magnificent (Disney Magic only) This classic love story unfolds through the misadventures of Morty the Magician, his assistant-girlfriend (Daphne) and a cast of truly artful characters.
  • Disney-Themed Trivia Game Show State-of-the-art lighting, a stylized set and a shipboard host challenge guests to compete in front of a full audience and experience the fun and excitement of a television game show.
  • Disney Dreams A bedtime story featuring Peter Pan, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Cinderella, Ariel and many other popular Disney characters who together teach a young girl the power of her dreams.
  • Farewell Variety Show (Disney Magic only) Guests remember the magic of their Disney Cruise.
The Walt Disney Theatre also hosts first-run Disney films premieres, allowing cruisers to enjoy a film's opening night at the same time it's making its nationwide release on land. Premieres this year have included Finding Nemo, The Lizzie McGuire Movie and Holes.

Disney Cruise Line offers seven-night eastern and western Caribbean vacations, three- and four-night cruises to the Bahamas, and land/sea packages that combine the fun and excitement of the Walt Disney World Resort with the enchantment of a Disney Cruise Line voyage to the Bahamas.
