Day 2: Early Morning Hour at MK
It is Sunday morning and the day of our trip that I have been looking forward to for months; early morning hour at the MK. Jacob wakes up at 5:30 am, which is actually a good thing because we are slow to get ready and I want to be at the MK when it opens. I whisk Jacob, pajamas and all, into the stroller and head off the Captain Cooks before he wakes up other guests. I love walking around the World early in the morning. It is dawn and the torches are still lit. The weather outside is already warm.
After Jacob eats, we go back to the room and get ready. Then we head down to the lounge for Dan and I to eat breakfast. The lounge was usually crowded, but there were never more than 3 or 4 people in front of you at the buffet. And we could always find a table.
We head off to the monorail at 7:15, as planned. As we walk down the monorail ramp at the MK, I have tears in my eyes because I'm so excited to show Jacob the MK. We learn that EMH will not begin until 8:00. So, no more "official and unofficial" opening times, at least at this time of year. We spend our time taking pictures. Once the turnstiles open, we take a lot of pictures on Main Street. Most of the pictures are of the back of Jacob's head because he keeps turning around to look at the castle.
We head first to Winnie the Pooh. Yes, I am rebelling against the guidebooks and skipping Dumbo. We ride Pooh twice, Jacob yells out to Tigger every time we see him. Next, we head to Peter Pan (this is the only ride during our entire stay that bothered Jacob a little). Then, we go to the Carousel and Mickey's Philharmagic. We all loved Philharmagic. I think this is one of Disney's best attractions. Jacob claps at the end.
As we walk around, there are characters everywhere. I've never seen so many characters signing autographs before.
Mickey's Toontown Fair doesn't open until 10:00, so we head to Tomorrowland. Dan takes Jacob on TTA while I ride SM. There is absolutely no line for SM. In fact, I'm off of SM before they are finished with TTA. Do you think there are ever lines for SM anymore? Has it been overshadowed by other attractions? (I should mention that the parks are crowded, more than I ever would have expected for early November. This is partly due to New Jersey week). Before leaving Tomorrowland, we get our fastpasses for Buzz. We rode Buzz about an hour later.
We head over to the bakery on Main Street to take a break. Jacob falls asleep in his stroller. Dan, who didn't get excited about this trip until about a week ago, is having a great time showing Jacob everything. He says, "We should do this every year." Ok, twist my arm. Jacob wakes up and we head over to the HM. I was nervous about taking him on this, but he did fine. It helped that he has watched the Disneyland Sing-A-Long video that features this attraction.
It is time to feed Jacob, so we head over to the baby center. What a great place! It is so quiet and peaceful. I'm able to use the microwave and get bottled water to mix in with his juice.
Next, we stop at Columbia Harbor house for lunch. This is probably one of the better counter service restaurants in the MK. Then, it is off to It's a Small World. Jacob loves it and sings along at the end. Next, we're able to walk right into Goofy's Jamboree as it begins. Again, Jacob loves this and dances around. I have to chase after him as he charges the stage. We go to CBJ and I remember why I usually skip this attraction. Then, we ride the railroad back to Main Street. The morning has surpassed my expectations. It is so fun to show your child around the MK. Dan and I are thrilled.
We head back to the Poly to relax. Dan watches some football and I stare out the window at our view. Dan proclaims that we can never stay anywhere else besides the Poly.
The skies are getting overcast and it is extremely windy. We decide to have our dinner in the concierge lounge and then hang out at the resort tonight. We spend time relaxing upstairs in the GCH. Jacob loves running around. At 7:00, we head down to the beach to watch Wishes. However, it is hard to enjoy with all of the wind and there is no music being piped in. We should have watched the fireworks from the lounge.
We head to bed early. This is one of the good things about experiencing Disney with kids, you go to bed earlier and stay well rested. It has been one of the best days of my life.
