We spend between 8 - 12 weeks at the Fort each winter and occasionally will meet other families who home-school their children. Are there any other's out there? If so, please respond so we can maybe have a HS support meeting while there this year.

Hello there.  I just read your post and, as a fellow homeschooler and Disney-lover, I am very interested in how you manage to  spend so much time at WDW.  It's my dream to do what you do  :9 .

Thank you......

My real job is running a small golf club up north. As there's not a lot of golf being played here from December through March, and as I can't stand the snow, we go south. My wife & I have always been WDW nuts and when we bought our motorhome and found out that there was an extended stay price at the Fort, off we went. Now we both have part time jobs there and try to work enough to pay the rent.

  :dollar:

This is my first post on this board!  (I hope it comes through correctly, I am NOT used to this type of format- I am usually only on the AOL Disney boards, and this seems confusing for now)
Anyway, we are homeschoolers and off to our first trip this December.  We camp a lot- but never camped at WDW.  We have 3 young boys (preschool, kindergarten, 3rd grade).  We are doing a 6 week unit study on WDW & FL starting in October!  We are about as excited as possible!  Great to see other homeschoolers love Disney!

Yoo Hoo, Jennifer!

You're doing fine! Welcome to the Disney Echo. Here's something I bet you never got at AOL, your own pair of Disney EchoEars!

Thanks for joining and adding to the fun here, Jennifer.

Jennifer, If you would like to look us up, we should be in the 1700 loop by Sunday, the 15th of December. We have a motorhome that has a Mickey silhouette over the driver's side window. Only our 16 year old will be with us as the "grown up" is off to college, maybe. She might be working for a semester before school starts in January. We've home-schooled both girls all the way, K through 12.

We are a HomeSchool Family with 8 children. We had the pleasure of meeting you and your family in the Meadows Trading Post in March of 2001.  You and your daughters where talking with your wife about their schoolwork.

It is great to find this forum of others that think FW is so great.  I will tell you that we could never visit Disney without FW as an option.

We will be there from December 6-13 so we will just miss seeing you this year.  I read about your trainset in another thread and hoped to see it this year, but I guess not.

Yoo Hoo, bkortman!

One way all of us can help this forum grow is to spread the word about it to our friends who enjoy camping. Another way is to tell fellow campers at Fort Wilderness you meet about the great tips from other campers and Disney fans which you found here on the Disney Echo.

Thanks for the kind words about the forum, B, and welcome to the Disney Echo. Here's your own pair of Disney EchoEars, atop a wilderness-style hat:

Eight kids is impressive. We have one family here who have 10 and all (well, not the 1 and 3 year old) have been home-schooled. Two are in college now. We have one ready for college but she's working right now and CLEPping college credits already. She has 15 credit hours so far and will probably have enough for her freshman year in the next couple of months.

We have other HS friends who will be there 12/1 and will be staying in 1700 too. If I could, we'd be getting there earlier too. They're leaving upper Michigan early because they've seen their first snow of the season. If we see too much snow and see it earlier than usual, I'll be begging to get an early start too. Snow and I just don't get along.
