I don't go for the bacteria theory just because for so many years River Country did use the water. I was told people were no longer allowed to swim because of too much boat traffic and reptiles that can be found in the lake.

There are rumors that River country will open up as either a swimming area for Wilderness Lodge or Fort Wilderness.

Maybe Scott has some ideas.

Aloha

Steve

And this is true for every single lake and lagoon at WDW? Even the one at Caribbean Beach Resort has too much boat traffic?

Disney doesn't want anyone swimming in any of their bodies of water that aren't swimming pools or water parks. Economics probably has a hand in this somewhere, whether they want people to spend money to be resort guests to use the pools/water parks or Disney doesn't want the liability of people swimming where there are no lifeguards and doesn't want to spend the money for lifeguards in non-pool/water park areas. I dunno.

Iddn't it funny how Disney lets people parasail or water ski on Bay Lake, though? Gosh, you gotta get in the water sometime when you do that! Oh, but people are paying to do those things, aren't they...
