Yoo Hoo and howdy, folks!

Welcome to the Fort Wilderness Resort message forum on the Disney Echo. This is a fan-based website, not endorsed by The Walt Disney Company and Disney retains all rights to its images, names and copyrights. We're not affiliated with Disney so you don't have to toe the company line here with your comments, but please remember that the young campers might see what you write, so as in all of the Disney Echo let's write and reply more like Mickey would and less like Donald does when he's mad, okay?
:coonskin:

This is the place to post your comments and questions about the Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground at Walt Disney World, whether you're a tent camper, camping in an RV, "roughing it" in a Wilderness Cabin, or just whooping it up in Pioneer Hall at the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue.

The Disney Echo is proud to be affiliated with Amazon.com to offer fine family camping magazines like these:
Camping Live magazine cover
Camping Life

MotorHome magazine cover
MotorHome

Each order you place through these links helps the Disney Echo.

Yoo Hoo, Disney EchoEars!

My thanks go out to Steve Seifert (Tikiman) for being the first to choose to have the Disney Echo be the official message forum of his Disney-related website, Tikiman's Polynesian Resort Page. Steve and I are very pleased in the results of our teaming up in this way and are happy that so many Disney fans have benefitted from finding a place dedicated to their favorite Disney resort.

Steve and I both felt it would be great to extend this idea with other Disney Resort and attraction fan-based websites that could use the Disney Echo to add a message forum to their websites just like Steve did.

I have just completed putting together this kind of synergy link here in the Fort Wilderness Resort message forum: We're proud to announce two new co-moderators for this newest discussion area, this Fort Wilderness Message Forum.

Scott O'Neill (Disney Campers) runs The Unofficial Guide to Camping at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort at www.DisneyCampers.com, a great website about camping at WDW. We're proud Scott is now also a co-moderator here on the Disney Echo.

Jeff Spencer is widely known for his Spencer Family's Disney Page because it includes the very informative Fort Wilderness FAQ. We also pleased to see him here on the Disney Echo as a co-moderator.

Just like Tikiman, Scott and Steve chose the Disney Echo to host their websites' message forums, and we appreciate it!

I can't wait to see this forum grow like the Polynesian one has. I would love to see one for every resort.

I can remember Fort Wilderness back when all the other resorts were not around and we would go through it to go to River Country.

I saw a trip report from back when River Country was first closed written by someone staying at Fort Wilderness. He was given a free round of golf at one of WDW's miniature golf courses for everyone in his party to make up for River Country not being open.

Has anyone gotten one of these lately? Does Disney still do that?

BTW, great picture, Steve! Did you take it yourself and if so, how did you manage  that!?!
:lookaround:

River country...I have many memories from there.

I have not heard of them giving out mini golf tickets for not having river country open.

The slides were great for the time. But with Blizzard beach the slides are very weak.

I would love for them to open it just so i could see it agian.

Didn't part of River Country use the water from Bay Lake? Now that nobody is allowed to swim in any of the lagoon and lake water at WDW because of the bacteria, I wonder if this was another reason River Country is not being reopened?

WOW,  i love that picture of River Country,  unfortunately it is closed,  the sign has been taken down and the entrance area has been walled off,  so I doubt there are any plans to open it anytime soon.

Yes most of river country used the water from bay lake. I have heard the stories of the bacteria. Funny how it was ok in the 70-90's but not now.
