I need your help in my fi9nal planning.

I think it's called EMH now - early magic hour?
Does anyone know what days each park has their early opening in WDW? We are going in Nov and I am trying to plan out which parks to do on what days. My parents live in FL and will be meeting my family (myself, husband and 3 daughters) down there for a few days. There are also a few friends from our town going down with their families. Just trying to coordinate all plans. Thanks for any help. :D

First of all, if you have an old WDW guidebook that writes about "Early Entry," disregard what it says there because the parks/days have changed now that this new version of early entry is back as Extra Magic Hour. Here are the EMH days for which parks Guests staying onsite at WDW Resorts can get in early (and note, this would not apply to your parents, even if they are "in your party"):
  • Sunday - Magic Kingdom
  • Monday - Disney's Animal Kingdom
  • Tuesday - Disney-MGM Studios
  • Wednesday - Epcot
  • Thursday - Magic Kingdom
  • Friday - Disney's Animal Kingdom
  • Saturday - Disney-MGM Studios

UPDATE:

Starting on Saturday, November 8, 2003, Epcot will host Extra Magic Hour instead of the normally scheduled Disney-MGM Studios.
  • Sunday - Magic Kingdom
  • Monday - Disney's Animal Kingdom
  • Tuesday - Disney-MGM Studios
  • Wednesday - Epcot
  • Thursday - Magic Kingdom
  • Friday - Disney's Animal Kingdom
  • Saturday - Epcot

Extra Magic Hour attractions at Epcot are: Spaceship Earth, Test Track, Universe of Energy, and Mission: SPACE.

Walt Disney World Resort Guests (and Guests at the WDW Swan and Dolphin and the Hilton at Lake Buena Vista) can take part in the Extra Magic Hour one hour prior to regularly-scheduled park opening time in the above list -- just present your Disney Resort ID when asked for it. Transportation starts about thirty minutes before the park's EMH opening time.

Thanks Rich - actually I'm planning on going to specific parks on the days they don't have EMH. The last time I was at WDW I found them to be the most crowded the day of EMH. A CM at the Contemporary confirmed this and suggested we try the days without the EMH.

Yes, that's one way to handle the increased crowds that come with EMH. Another way is to make sure you're there bright and early when EMH first takes effect at the particular park, ride the rides that are open (and they will have shorter than normal lines) and then park hop when too many other people have arrived later in the morning, make that park very packed.

We've done both methods -- they both work!

Kelly,

Disney now calls it "Extra Magic Hour" :)

This came back in October 2002.  You can find more info on the ins and outs at Deb Wills site http://wdwig.com/emhour.htm

Hope this helps

Does Disney still have an official opening time and an unofficial opening time?  For EMH at the MK, should I be there at 7:30 or 8:00?  It used to be that if you wanted to be there when the gates opened, you should be there an hour before unofficial opening time, but I don't know if this is still true.

Thanks.
