To all who have recently visited DAK, could you please tell me whether or not Kilimanjaro Safari is a fastpass attraction or not.  From what TourGuideMike says, it is, but according to WDW's web site, it's not on the list.  Any recent first-hand experience?

The reason I ask is because TGM suggests sending someone from your party over to KS to get fastpasses first thing while everyone else heads to Dinoland for all the fun there.  The fastpass runner is supposed to "jet" through Asia and meet up with your party to do Dinosaur, Primeval Whirl, the Bug movie and then Kali River Rapids before doing your fastpass time at KS.  If it's not a fastpass attraction anymore, then I don't want our runner to find out the hard way.  We're doing DAK with my mom and her husband, so don't want things to get aggravated first thing.

I know most people head right to the safari in the morning, which is what I would do if it's not fastpass, I guess, especially since we plan to arrive well before opening.

Thanks for your input.

Yoo Hoo, Becky!
Yes, it is certainly a Fastpass attraction!

But here's my tip! TourGuideRich, I suppose. Heh!

Don't just have one person go there and then meet up with you later. Have everyone go to Kilimanjaro Safari as a group right after the park opens. Then everyone get Fastpasses (and here's the tricky part) and then go on the ride via the standby line. What? am I crazy?
No, not at all. Here's why.

You'll be riding as early as possible, and the line at this most-popular DAK attraction will be pretty non-existent if you get there first thing. So, you're basically getting no line or a normal-sized Fastpass line (yes, there are lines even with the Fastpass sometimes) without having to use those Fastpasses. The animals are most lively right as the park opens, so you'll get to see a lot.
 But as soon as you get off, don't linger and instead proceed to the Fastpass entry area (and you might even be able to cut through to it where the strollers are stored if no one is in the Fastpass line up to that point yet). Now ride it again, using your Fastpass this time. You'll get to see even more of the animals at their best, plus you get the added benefit of having (most likely) a different CM give you the spiel.

We've had very different tours based on who the CM is on the microphone in the safari vehicle, so you might pleasantly surprised at how much better one of these safari tours is compared to the other. I know we had that experience in June.

You'll still have fun at Dinosaur and the other attractions without the lines being too long -- as long as you arrive at park opening.

Wow!  A whole 'nuther take on how to tour DAK!  Thanks Rich!  I appreciate any and every tip, that's for sure!  Do you think a four year old would even like doing the safari twice?  I know I would love the opportunity, just don't know about the kids.  I'm traveling with the 4 yr old, a 14 yr old and a 12 yr. old, too.  May get voted down on doing it twice!   :unhappy:

Tell the 4 year old that on the second trip they can sit closer to the other side of the safari vehicle, to see what they missed since their view was blocked by the other people.
