I was reading through our 1997 WDW trip Journal and came across this entry from our day at MGM:

"Hannah and I only got three autographs:  Prince John, Woody and her fav, Meeko.  She's using her hat to get the autographs--it's neat!  Hannah said Disney characters' kisses last forever!"

Isn't that sweet?

Anyone else care to share a precious moment?

We were eating lunch at the Crystal Palace.  When Pooh came out and did his dance around the room, the kids (including my DS 4) followed.  When the music stopped, Pooh turned to the kids waving.  My son just couldn't resist and ran and gave him a quick hug.  He had such a BIG grin on his face.  The tables around us just looked at us like "aaaww"

Brought tears to my eyes.

I've got 2 if ya' don't mind....

1st trip: We were at the infamous Castle breakfast(yes we went, and no we have no little princesses, just a prince! ) and ds, 6 at the time, had the autograph book in hand when Jasmine came to our table. She peeked in the front of the book, and then addressed him by name. He was in shock and awe that she knew his name. He later explained to us the reason why she knew it. It seems that she could see him through the tv ALL those times he's watched her movie and show and now she has a crush on him  :9 OH brother!!

2nd trip: Me and ds, 7 this time,  were strolling in DTD alone-and I mean not another soul in sight and he stops me and tells me that an older kid at daycare says that Mickey is just a person in a suit. He asked if that were true. Well, I didn't want to lie so I asked him what he thought. His reply: Mickey has to be real because of all the magic and happiness he makes people feel, and he knows that's real cause he feels it in his heart. That's my boy-Disney spirit just oozes from him

:clapping: Great topic, thanks for asking!!

Thanks for sharing, Tammy.  You know, the Jasmine story really sheds light on where kids are at developmentally in their understanding of reality.  Kind of enlightening, especially in light of the thread about whether you should let your kid run off alone at a water park! Granted your son was only six at the time, but still!  Kids are probably not capable of processing reality correctly, are they?  Even if they are mature, there are just some limits in their understanding.  And yet, at the same time they can be so profound in their simplistic way of looking at things (ie why Mickey is real).  It's so sweet, and why we protect them from the harsh realities and let them endulge in Disney fun and fantasy.  I can't wait to hear the way my four year old perceives things on our upcoming trip.  I'm going to make every effort to write things down so I don't forget them!

Becky I agree with you 100%. You know even now at the ripe old age of 8, he still has moments like that. Although my DM swears that he does it to patronize me, he still talks about Santa, the tooth-fairy and Easter bunny as if they are real. And when we talk about the trip to WDW it's the same. IMHO, I want him to be a beautiful innocent child as long as possible. Too many children are forced to grow up too fast.

And Mickey is real right? :tounge:
