No Evidence Park Rides Can Cause Brain Damage

Representatives from two separate independent studies commissioned by Six Flags theme parks told reporters at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., this morning that there is no evidence to support recent allegations that amusement park rides can cause brain damage.

The studies, by the American Assn. of Neurological Surgeons and Exponent Failure Analysis Associates, reached similar conclusions. Six Flags President Gary Story also announced that the park chain is launching an ongoing initiative to collect and study reports of injuries that occur on rides, which will be overseen by Neuro-Knowledge, a division of the AANS.

Brain Injury Study Concludes 'No Ill Effects'
by Tim O'Brien, http://www.amusementbusiness.com

A "Blue Ribbon Panel" assembled by the Brain Injury Assn. of America has completed its comprehensive study of the correlation between brain injuries and roller coaster rides and has concluded that "the overwhelming majority of riders will suffer no ill effects" and the "risk of brain injury from a roller coaster is not in the rides, but in the riders."

Copies of the entire report can be downloaded from biausa.org

Interesting Article, Thanks! :)

It's my pleasure, ShakiBlue!

One thing I heard on the news about this study... Those who are already prone to brain injury will be injured by the roller coasters.

Something sobering to think about, as I'm not sure how to check to see if one is prone to brain injury before it happens.
:(

I never wooory about brain injuries, but on the few times I have been on one I think I had a small heart attack.  Until they do a study on that I will stay off them  . That sounds better then saying I am a big chicken.
