Please keep Roy and the Disney family in your prayers.

And the Disney company, too. Right now it needs prayer more so than ever.

Well the Board infighting is now very public since Stanley Gold left the Board this afternoon, too, and the independent Board members are openly critical of the two who resigned.  "All My Children" anyone...that is a ABC/Disney soap opera, isn't it?

Jeffery Katzenberg is the one who proposed to Disney buying Miramax, to get some "prestigious" Oscar-style movies going on and diversify Disney's studio output, I forget when this was, in the mid-90s before Katzenberg left.  Anyway in terms of Disney and it's administration and culture needing some "conversion", I think the Pandora's box was opened when Miramax became a part of Disney.  Miramax makes a point of slamming the Catholic church and Catholic practices and beliefs at least every 1-2 years in their movies.  The whole company lost its focus...too many "collectibles" and merchandise items flooding and saturating the market.  Movies like "Bad Santa".  Disney doing PG and now PG-13 movies "for families".  Theme parks that aren't as fun or satisfying as what Walt did at DL.  Failed ventures.  Everyone can add their own gripes and their own list of "Disney doesn't do ___ the way they used to, like when Walt was around or even in the early 1990s....."  Some people are secular about their gripes about Disney and that's fine, and others see it from a spiritual view and that's fine, too.  General point is Disney ain't the way they used to be and maybe that's not a good thing anymore.

I think Roy and Stanley Gold will have the peace of mind of their convictions and loving family and supportive friends and associates, and all their money, and will be OK.  But it's Eisner and the current Board and the administration and the staff and employees and CMs who serve the public who have a lot to endure and adapt to.  I pray they find wisdom to go in better family-oriented directions, and that they channel Walt, the late Roy, Marc Davis, Ward Kimball and a host of others who've passed away and have gone before them for inspiration on the right way to go about things.  Just IMHO/YMMV.  For those of you who don't pray, that's OK, but "hoping for the best" for the Walt Disney Company and its executives and staff is in line with what Goofyteer is requesting us to do or think about.  Like a broadcast transmitter engineer I used to work with, when he fixed something he'd tell the staff "OK, now think good thoughts about (the repair)."  That's what I wish for Goofyteer and anyone else with hopes for better days ahead for Disney and staff.

Lighting candles, ignore the cake part, it's better to light a candle than curse the darkness.   :birthdaycake:
