otay folks....

here is the LATEST information that I just got by calling into Disney Reservations...Though he (the CM I talked to) couldnt tell me why MK will be closing early (6pm) and they will not have any fireworks that night.  He said  There will be fireworks (most likely Wishes) on the 9th though they will still be listed as FANTASY IN THE SKY on Disney.com til Wishes  offcially debuts.  I am assuming that the fireworks to be shot off on  the 11, 12 and 13 at 9:00 will be Wishes :)  If I am wrong..which does happen sometime just let me know :D

As usual if I hear anythign else you guys will be the first to know.

TTFN :D

Thanks, Kelly!

And there might be sneak previews of Wishes even before the 9th just to make sure it all works before the press event.

It is official!

The Wishes™ nighttime spectacular will officially have its debut in the Magic Kingdom for all Guests on Thursday, October 9, 2003 at 9 pm. You can now see it for yourself at disneyworld.com.

A Cast Member-only preview of "Wishes" is reportedly going to be on Tuesday, October 7th -- but all WDW Guests would be able to see it from outside the park. "Wishes" will also be shown during a private party for the news media at an invitation-only event, but once again all WDW Guests would be able to see it from outside the park. The first official showing of "Wishes" for all Guests at the Magic Kingdom is Thursday, October 9, 2003 at 9 pm.

Yoo Hoo, Disney EchoEars!

I've been reading a lot of trip reports from Disney EchoEars who have just gotten back from WDW who mention they have seen the new "Wishes" fireworks at the Magic Kingdom -- at least from afar and in testing. This new show will be starting tonight!

Please reply here with any comments you have about either the new show or what you saw of it while it was being tested.

I'll start things off. On Thursday, October 2nd, the Magic Kingdom was closed when we noticed fireworks going off there from our vantage point across the Seven Seas Lagoon at the Volcano pool of the Polynesian Resort.

I could hear quite clearly Jiminy Cricket narrating the "Wishes" fireworks and the music. It was very easy to hear where we were, on the walkway between the volcano pool and the beach.

The next night, the 360-degree fireworks were added to the Fantasy In The Sky fireworks we saw at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. These effects are amazing! From the beach they looked like all of the Magic Kingdom had skyrockets going up all over the place. And when we were actually experiencing that from inside the park on Friday night we were awed to see how perfectly synchronized each fireworks blast was to all the others, not only in the timing but in the height of the blasts and the colors.

It is magical to watch these from the Polynesian Resort's beach and great to be able to hear the music and Jiminy Cricket so well. And seeing the new show from inside the Magic Kingdom is another treat not to be missed!

Starting tonight, "Wishes" officially begins. Be watching for (and please report here about) these parts of the show: the romance section, Disney Villains section, and the "When You Wish Upon A Star" finale.

Let's hear it from the other Disney EchoEars who have seen this new show or parts of it being tested!

Yoo Hoo, Disney EchoEars!

I've add a new topic (found by clicking here) for first-hand reports about the new "Wishes" fireworks show (which has its official premEAR tonight at the Magic Kingdom) for people who have either seen the entire show themselves, parts of the show added to "Fantasy in the Sky" fireworks, or special testing of "Wishes" that went after hours in the weeks leading up to tonight's premEAR.

Please go here to add your comments about "Wishes" in this temporary thread, which will eventually be merged into this topic.

And here is the latest picture, direct from Disney, about the new "Wishes" fireworks show:

Story in the Sky

"Wishes," the biggest, boldest fireworks spectacular ever staged at the Magic Kingdom, weaves a thrilling "story in the sky" that blends music and character voices from cherished Disney animated films, original narration by Jiminy Cricket and dazzling pyrotechnic effects never seen before in a Disney theme park. The new show debuts in October 2003 and will provide the perfect "goodnight kiss" for a gathering of family and friends at Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

On the 30th of September my wife and I celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary in WDW ( site of our honeymoon).

After dinner at Ohana with friends we went back to our room in the Contemporary tower overlooking the park.

At around 10:00 pm long after the park closed we could hear music coming from the Magic Kingdom and then the sky lit up with one of the most amazing fireworks shows I've ever seen.

We sat out on the balcony sipping wine and enjoying the show. The fireworks were huge! and perfectly in sync with the music. Many of the mortars were so loud that car alarms were being set off in the parking lot.

After what seemed to be 20 minutes (not really sure -- it was good wine) the show ended with a brilliant grand finale -- which was then followed by a huge round of applause by all of our fellow guests on their balconies.

It was quite the experience!

Even better than this though -- throughout the night, more rehearsing was being done -- so occasionally we would hear the blare of the steam engine's whistle -- a few strains of recorded music -- and then a few bursts of fireworks. It went on all night.

My wife and I laid in bed all night with the curtains and patio doors open so that we could take it in music and all.

It was a very memorable anniversary. Not to be easily topped.

(We also got re-hitched at the Garden Grill -- I'll post the details on the priority seating page)
