I am also curious as to whether anyone has any news about the date of the Tahiti/Hawaii switchover.  We will be at the Poly LV concierge through October 18th.  Does anyone know what will happen when Hawaii reopens?  Would there be lounges/food in both Tahiti and Hawaii, or would we have to walk over to Hawaii if we are still staying in Tahiti our last day? Thank you.

As of today they are planning on being in Hawaii on the 17th. I am trying to find out about the lounge but I would think because of staff that there will only be one lounge area open. The walk from Tahiti to Hawaii is very short along the beach. I kind of think it is funny how people worry about walking over to Hawaii for the lounge considering if you are in Tonga suites (and paying much more) you have a longer walk to Hawaii or even Tahiti if you are there now, to use the lounge. I can also remember having to walk to another building across the property and up to the top floor to use the concierge lounge in the Disneyland Hotel.

I will let you know if and when I hear more.

Aloha

Steve

Thanks for the update Steve  :) !  So at risk of me already flogging that horse one more time  ...

My family and I are due to check in Oct.17th.  As you currently read those Tikiman tea leaves, do you think they'd put us in Hawaii or Fiji?  I know everything is subject to change at the last minute.  But what do you think ;) ?

As always many thanks for your help Steve!!

Well the tea leaves say with 100% certainty you will not be in Fiji :9  but I keep on being told people will be in Hawaii on the 18th and staff members say they will be in on the 17th but I get the feeling the staff will be in the building to get ready on the 17th and guests will be placed on the 18th. That is just my feeling so if you are checking in on the 17th don’t be surprised if you are in Tahiti but maybe keep your bags packed for a day and see if you can move. Just don’t tell them I said that because I am sure they do not want to move every one over to Hawaii and I am sure they couldn’t anyway because they usually have it planned to start filling those rooms with people checking in after the open the longhouse and since they are losing rooms (since it is smaller) I would think the rooms will fill up quick that week.

Aloha

Steve,
I just got back on the 8th from eight wonderful nights at the Polynesian. We stayed in room 3613 in Samoa longhouse. During my visit I could see the rehab work progressing on Hawaii everyday from my room. It appeared to me that on Monday and Tuesday(6th/7th) the workers were placing the beds and furniture back in the rooms. The grounds crew were layng sod on the quiet pool side. The rooms that I could see into appeared to be completely made up and ready for occupancy.   hope this is a good sing that work is on schedule for all those staying in Hawaii soon.

Thanks for the report. I got an email on the 3rd and they told me that the furniture went in on the 3rd flood that day but I am sure there will be a few things to still finish up, but it looks like things are on time.

Aloha

Aloha all!
We are doing the single digit dance and I was also wondering what the plans were going to be for our first trip to the Polynesian.  I did call 10/5 and asked what might happen to us, and the nice lady did not have any idea.  I understand that Hawaii will be open to guests on 10/17 and of course we arrive on 10/16 for an eight day stay.  I think that we would like to be moved into Hawaii but not sure if I should ask.  I know that it is not a long walk between the buildings, just would like to be where the actions is.  This is our first trip without the children (I will miss them, but also looking forward to quality time with my hunny) for a celebration of our 15th wedding anniversary.

Any advise or suggestions?  I dont want to ask too much or be a rude guest.

Thanks,
Figaro

:D  WOW!
I just received a second phone call from the staff at the Polynesian!  This time it was Tara, and she was very nice.  She made sure that we had all the PS that we needed and updated her file on us.  I did not remember to ask her how the progress is going on Hawaii
I also told her that I had read about her on this and  Steve's web site.  She said she did not have a lot of time to read the web sites.  I appreciated the phone call and I'm already impressed with the service at the Polynesian.

If you don't get into Hawaii when you arrive, just ask the next day -- if you don't mind moving.

The way I see it, that is a wonderful way to experience different buildings at the Polynesian. If they can't do it, they'll be very polite, I'm sure.

So if you want to move, just ask! You don't have anything to lose.
