It depends if they make you wait until they're ready at the podium if you get there 45 minutes prior to the show. Once they've checked you in at the podium (be it Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue or Spirit of Aloha) your seat/table will be assigned so you certainly don't have to then go right to your seat and wait.

Powder your nose, look around and enjoy the surroundings, or in the case of Hoop even go check out the petting area. The petting area is very close by to Pioneer Hall: as you are facing Pioneer Hall it is to the left and behind it a bit. There's also a playground right near there, too.

At both the Spirit of Aloha and Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue there are Disney photographers and a setting to take your picture... They really want you to pose for this even if you hve no intention of buying the picture, so you might as well play along and do it.
:wink2:
This picture-taking happens outside (even for Hoop) and is before the show starts. That's another reason Disney wants everyone to get there early.
:D

they really dont start checking people in  until about  30  mins  prior to show time.....(but theres always a  line at the door)....  I dont  think they  want people  leaving once they're  seated  as to get  everyone seated before the show begins..... They frown on stragglers coming in late  because that disrupts the show.  (that will go  on  ontime)......

Yoo Hoo, Nancy!

Well, when do they direct you to have your picture taken? I might be remembering this wrong, but the last time we did Hoop we checked in at the podium and then after that they had us get our picture taken (outdoors, not in Pioneer Hall). Am I remembering this out of order?

The last time I saw pictures being taken was at the old Luau in 1998 but since then when we went to see the show in 2001 they had stopped taking photos and I do not believe they have done it since.

Aloha

Thanks for the helpful insight.  We've always visited WDW when parks are open until at least 10PM and by that time (with arrival back "home" more like 11PM), the family was way too tired to think about a swim, but when the park closes earlier, it is nice to know there will be some pool time to enjoy to fill out the day.

The Volcano pool must be beautiful at night with or without swimmers.  A late night dip can be very relaxing.  When staying at a "delux", it is good to have time just to enjoy being at the resort even if it takes an "off day" to do so.

Hello!  I am new to the board, and was hoping to get some info!!  We will be staying LV concierge the first week of December, and have made reservations for the Luau during our trip.  Here is my question:  I have been posting on the Dis discussion forums, and saw a thread concerning someone who changed/upgraded her reservation at the last minute to stay concierge.  One of the replies to her post was- 'hopefully you'll be able to join the concierge table at the luau!'.  Is there a certain table at the luau for people staying concierge at the Poly, or did I misunderstand the post?  At the time I wasn't planning to stay concierge, so did not question it at the time.  Anyone have any info?   :9

Yoo Hoo, jeankeri, and aloha!

Well, let's see, I don't know about a concierge table at the Spirit of Aloha dinner show (aka "luau"), but I bet Tikiman will be along here shortly and that he'll have an answer for you.

In the meantime, sit back, relax by reading the messages here on the Disney Echo and Tikiman's website, and enjoy this welcoming gift I have for you for joining the Disney Echo and posting your first message here -- your own Minnie-style Disney EchoEars hat complete with lei:

Thanks for joining the fun here, and congratulations on your upcoming trip!

Thanks!  Re-reading my post reminded me of a question I had forgotten- Does your entire party have to be there to check in, or can one wait in the line?  My boys tend to be stragglers- if my husband or myself shows up early, can they follow 10 minutes behind?  Just curious!

Well, I haven't been to the Spirit of Aloha show yet, just the old luau before they refurbished the place...

But if it works like checking in at Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue, we arrived about 20 minutes early and only one person had to be in that check-in line. That person was given one seating table assignment card that was for the whole group, and then we were told what time to be at the door to enter, and that it didn't matter who was first in that line as all seats were assigned. By the way, seats are assigned when you call to make your reservation (up to two years in advance! ) and not when you pick up your tickets nor show up at the podium the night of the show.

So, I'd recommend they not be late for the appointed time of entry, since there is only that one seating assignment card to be brought for the whole group. But they can certainly be late for the initial checking in!
