Met with a sales rep. from AM 640, Radio Disney in Philadelphia about a week ago, and found out some news of interest to anyone in Central PA who wants RD in their home.

First, the current AM 640 tower, located in Mount Holly, NJ, is going to be moved to somewhere north of Philadelphia.  This will bring their 50,000 watt signal about an hour west of the current pattern, or well into central PA.

But wait, there's more...they are negotiating right now to purchase either an existing or a new frequency in the Harrisburg area, to start a new RD station.

So we've got two great chances to get a cool station (my kids LOOOOOVE Radio Disney...whatta surprise, eh?) in this area.

Thanks, Radio Disney...we're all ears!

Yoo Hoo, Chris!

That's great news! I'm hoping it comes through for you and your kids. If not, there's always satellite radio!
:laughbig:

All of us were so sad when our previous Radio Disney station changed formats. It had been in Baton Rouge, but we could pick it up in the New Orleans area where we live most days, weather cooperating. But the station's group owner didn't think it was making enough money for them, so they changed to syndicated talk radio (not anyone great like Rush Limbaugh).

So you can imagine how happy we were when right here in our own city The Walt Disney Co. itself through their ABC Radio Networks up and bought a New Orleans radio station that had a struggling talk radio format and up and changed it to Radio Disney!
:smart:

Disney seems to be doing that a lot around the country: buying the radio stations themselves and then changing its format to Radio Disney. Rupert Murdoch did the same thing in TV, which helped make the FOX network successful -- his News Corp bought the station I worked for at one point and changed us to FOX from ABC and even though the station has new owners now there is this long-term commitment that had been made with the FOX network...  :wink2:

Good luck in your area, Chris!
