Disney Echo Rules!
Yoo Hoo and Welcome!
Like-minded Disney fans gather here in the Disney
Echo message areas to discuss All Things Disney.
This is a friendly place to tell stories about your
trips to Disney theme parks, conventions, stage
productions -- or even a simple trip to the Disney Store.
We invite you to share your memories of fun Disney
times with fellow Disney fans. Discussions about
Disney news stories, Disney films, TV and stage
shows, as well as other general Disney topics, are also welcome
here.
In the words of Walt Disney, to all who come to
this happy place, welcome.
RULES, POLICIES, AND DISCLAIMERS
When participating on the Disney Echo by writing or
replying to messages on its
message forums, you agree to abide by the Disney Echo
Rules! Keep in mind that
kids as well as adults read the messages here, so
please keep it clean. Remember, when you
write a message on the Disney Echo it will be seen by
folks all over the world.
This is not a place for arguing or "flaming" users of
the Disney Echo, nor any
outright Disney bashing. The most important Disney Echo rules can be
boiled down to this simple philosophy: Let's write and reply more like
Mickey Mouse would and less like Donald Duck does when he's mad. Any posts
of an argumentative or sarcastic nature are
subject to immediate removal from the Disney Echo as
the Disney Echo modEARators
see fit. However, since the Disney Echo is not
associated with The Walt Disney
Co., you don't have to toe the company line and all
opinions about Disney topics,
pro and con, are welcome. People's opinions may
differ, but disagreements can
be expressed in a civil way.
The Disney Echo is committed to strong Internet privacy
protections. That's why the Disney Echo does not
register guests under the age of 13, in compliance with
COPPA, the Children's Online Privacy Protection
Act of 1998. For further information regarding COPPA,
please visit
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/edcams/kidzprivacy/adults.htm
(for adults) and
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/edcams/kidzprivacy/kidz.htm
(for kids).
If at any time it is discovered that someone under the age of 13 has registered to be a Disney EchoEar, they will not be allowed to have
any posting abilities, posting abilities will be turned off if they had previously been given before the age of the person was known, and
the person will no longer have a validated Disney Echo log-in/registration from that time forward until such time as the person becomes
at least age 13 (or older, of course) and some proof is provided by the parents/legal guardian of the person in question (if they wish
their child to be an active participant on the Disney Echo at that time) if that person is still a minor. Note that all who register to
be on the Disney Echo should have read these rules in the first place, however, so this should not even be an issue if all who apply
to be on the Disney Echo are in fact age 13 or older.
You agree, through your use of the Disney Echo, that
you will not use it to post
any material which is knowingly false and/or
inaccurate, abusive, bigoted,
defamatory, harassing, hateful, indecent, obscene,
profane, threatening, vulgar,
invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violates
any law.
This also includes any link to another web page
which is posted by you: links to other web pages should have
content similar to the rules and family atmosphere of the
Disney Echo or at least provide an advisory if it does not. Any
links found offensive to EchoEars should be reported to "Disney
Echo @ emuck . com" (remove the quotation marks as well as the spaces).
We reserve the right to remove any link to a web page which was posted
not following these guidelines. Links to malware or sigs that contain such links will be
deleted as soon as possible once they are detected/reported.
Although the Disney Echo welcomes all people, each with their own opinion and encourages
all to express their tips and opinions on the Echo (as long as the Disney Echo rules are
followed), there is no tolerance for trolls
or internet sock puppets on the
Disney Echo so the Disney Echo team of modEARators and administratEARS will be enforcing warnings
and/or bannings as needed in those cases. Disney Echo modEARator Tamby / BambiTamby found another useful link about
trolls -- and we both agree with the advice given about how to deal with trolls. If you're confused about the term "internet sock puppets," in other
words, only one Disney Echo log-in per person.
Anyone attempting to join in order to "spam" and/or putting a non-appropriate link in their profile will not be allowed to be an EchoEar. (See below
for more details about website links.)
You may enter your real name or a nickname you are known to by others, but note that only names appropriate for the Disney Echo will be allowed and
spam names are prohibited.
If you need to change your Disney Echo log-in name, click here to see
how that can be done, but
note that you will also need to keep an explanation along the
lines of "Previously MyOldLog-In on the Disney Echo" in your Disney Echo signature (with "MyOldLog-In" being replaced
with the actual name of your old log-in, of course) to avoid confusion.
In writing or replying to messages on the Disney Echo,
you agree not to post any
copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by
you or by the Disney Echo. Although the modEARators of the Disney Echo do not and
cannot review each and every message
posted and is not responsible for the content of any
of these messages, every attempt is made to review each message posted and
in addition we reserve
the right to DELETE ANY MESSAGE FOR ANY REASON WHATSOEVER although every attempt
will be made not to do so. You remain solely
responsible for the content of your messages, and you
agree to indemnify and hold
harmless the FANtasEARS Disney Fan Club, the Disney Echo, its modEARators,
and the
Disney Echo Affiliates with respect to any claim based
upon transmission of your
message(s).
Please review the topic you are posting in order to
make sure it will be added to
the most relevant message forum (for example, post a
trip report to the appropriate trip report forum rather
than a different area).
Not only is posting your message in the wrong forum
confusing but you'll also receive fewer responses than
you might have expected because not as many EchoEars interested in
what you are posting will find it in the wrong place.
The Disney Echo modEARators reserve the right to move
topics at any time to a
more appropriate message forum.
And to make sure your information is understood by all,
please write only in English (in your posted messages but also any information you
might choose to share in your Disney Echo profile) because the vast majority of EchoEars
use English to communicate. As is also done at Disney.com,
"We also reserve the right to remove notes that are off the subject or not in English." We also reserve the right to remove EchoEars
trying to get around this or any other Disney Echo rule.
The Disney Echo modEARators
reserve the right to edit or
delete any messages at any time (although we have no duty to do so):
We have the ability
to remove or edit
objectionable messages and we will
make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time
frame, if we determine that
removal or editing is necessary.
Because messages are
posted in real-time, it is
not possible for us to review messages or confirm the
validity of information
posted. Please remember that although we strive to monitor
the contents of each message posted, it is not possible at
all times to do so and the Disney Echo and its team of
modEARators and administratEARS are not responsible for any
messages posted. The Disney
Echo does not vouch for or
warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of
any message, and cannot be
held responsible for the contents of any message. The messages express
the views
of the author of each message and not necessarily the
views of the Disney Echo,
its modEARators, or the FANtasEARS Disney Fan Club.
Any user who feels that
a posted message is objectionable to them is encouraged to first try and work things out for themselves (by either
seeing the other's point of view (even if you don't agree with it) and/or ignoring it) then you yourself contacting
that person privately if you feel that is necessary, and then after trying that if you can contact us by email if you
still feel the need to do that. Do NOT post publically about it or anything else which in any way violates the
Disney Echo rules. If you choose to contact us -- by email at "DisneyEcho @ emuck . com" (remove the quotes and
spaces) -- you should know that we have the ability to remove objectionable
messages and we will make every effort to do so within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal
is necessary due to the material in some way not in keeping with the Disney Echo rules. However, if something
posted is blatantly against the rules, please email us immediately.
In the event of a complaint or legal action arising
from any message posted by you
to the Disney Echo, we reserve the right to reveal your identity (or
whatever information we know about you).
Internet privacy is a very important issue. Choose wisely about what you decide to write in messages or post online in the forums,
keeping in mind that you are sharing information with strangers. Even though you might personally know others
participating on the Disney Echo, remember that lurkers unknown to you are probably also reading what
you write. This is true on any public internet forum, the Disney Echo included.
Please note that chain letters, pyramid schemes, and
solicitations are not allowed
on the Disney Echo, nor is posting/distributing
software or other materials which
contain a virus or other harmful components.
Blatant promotion of other websites is not appropriate
on the Disney Echo, including spam, advertisements and for sale messages. However, a link
to your own personal Disney-related website
is allowed and encouraged if the website fits the character of the Disney Echo and the link does not open other
websites when attempts are made to use the link provided or close the linked website. Tricks like that are not allowed.
An appropriate link to your personal Disney-related website should be put under your
name at the conclusion of
messages you post to the Disney Echo -- and we encourage
you to use the signature feature (found in "Your MouseControl
Panel") to make this easy. We encourage travel agents to
post news they have about Disnehy vacation travel deals, as
long as the additional
rules about that, found here, are followed.
Any violation of the Disney Echo Rules may lead to
your post being deleted entirely,
edited, and/or your being suspended from use of the
Disney Echo.
Any message discussing how to get around the rules
will immediately be deleted and
the account temporarily suspended until which time a
modEARator can contact the
offending member.
Should you have any questions about our policies or
procedures, please contact
Disney Echo @ EMuck . com (remove the spaces before using that email address).
